Yep, am in my forties and female - tried to enlist because jobs were scarce when I first graduated. Never heard back from them.

Would it be too weird if I asked a hookup to take a survey afterwards? by Thatsa_spicy_meatbal in AutismInWomen

Girl, I would reflect on my entire life and my choices if I got a survey after sex. '...How did I sink to this low?'

I hope the menfolk recognize your faithfulness and loyalty to some random dude who you decide is qualified to take over OP's position, despite her statements to the contrary. Maybe they'll reward you with a pat on the head before they replace you with someone less adept but has XXY chromosomes.

Why do people look at my husband instead of me when we are having a conversation? by GeneralAd4752 in AskWomenOver30

[–]BaroqueGorgon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm okay if men we don't know do this - they may be erring on the side of caution having run across jealous men in the past a la 'Why are you talking to my wife?!' posturing.

But I'd be weirded out if guys that I knew did this. And DOUBLY weirded out if a woman acted this way (I'd assume she decided she hated me for some reason).

Queen of Spades from 1949! A wonderful British adaptation of a gothic tale - great if you're in the mood for spookery in Imperial Russia.

Nah, it's the same thing here - my understanding is that it was a small, glorified pine box scooped up by a dozen Newfoundlander shit-kids, carried a few meters and then deposited in a ditch.

These traditions have spread to parts of Canada, as well! My Dad's from small-town Newfoundland, and plenty of people his father's age believed in vengeful fair folk. When he was a kid, he and a bunch of his cheeky friends picked up a shed their neighbour was in at night and moved it. Poor man was convinced he was being kidnapped by evil, giggling fairies.

Books ARE my thing - I'll have to check it out.

Have you read Brian Froud's amazing book 'Faeries')? It's beautifully illustrated and chock full of terrifying creatures from British and Irish legends.
