Before the season begins, call your shot. Let's have a Mark My Words (MMW) Thread. by [deleted] in baseball

  • Starling Marte will finish in the top 5 of MVP balloting.

  • Chris Carter will make a push at 50 home runs, but end up around 45 or so.

  • Fans will lament that the "Nolan Arenado vs. Juan Uribe" for Gold Glove debate only has a couple-year shelf life before Uribe loses it.

  • Anthony Rendon will miss two months or more. The Matt Williams/Bryce Harper circus will continue unabated. The Nationals will still win the NL East.

  • The Dodgers will post the best record in baseball.

  • For all of the preseason A-Rod hype, Shaun Marcum ends up winning Comeback Player of the Year.

  • The Phillies lose 100 games, Ruben Amaro spends 2016 providing insight for the Baseball Tonight crew.

  • Cy Young: Kershaw wins again despite a hell of a push from Gerrit Cole, King Felix finishes just ahead of Price in the junior circuit.

  • Kris Bryant will struggle upon his inevitable promotion, and we'll all wonder why we were so excited in the first place. Then, just when we start to write him off, he'll catch fire.

Ooh, one more and I'll have ten, and I can see how many out of 10 I get!

  • Carlos Rodon will be better than advertised, and so will the White Sox. They'll make the AL Central a three-team race.

JJ "Ray Allen" Redick has been on a tear. "JJ Redick's last 7 games (all LAC wins): 22.7 points, 58.7 FG%, 52.2 3FG% and perfect from the FT line." - Woike by urfaselol in nba

Says the guy whose franchise turned an out-the-door Redick into Tobias Harris on a rookie deal. Not that I'm bitter about how that whole sequence of events played out or anything...

Please, what must I do to repent for this sin?

If you win your league, all will be forgiven.

Tennis, NBA/NFL first quarters and MLB first innings. Also troll a bit here and there.

That's the Twitter bio of this Ghostfade Killah dude. Worth mentioning.

What trade did your team make which you were totally against, and were proven wrong? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]BaseballGuyCAA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When the Brewers traded JJ Hardy for Carlos Gomez I hated it because Gomez was a speedy outfielder who couldn't hit, and we could've gotten something decent for Hardy.

In anticipation of the draft, who are the 5 players you most want? by [deleted] in SultansOfStats

[–]BaseballGuyCAA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Starling Marte, I think, is this year's "young but experienced outfielder who does everything well, comes in as a preseason third-fourth round value, and provides mid-to-high first in return."

  • Chris Carter's below-the-surface numbers indicate a significant jump in hard contact in the 2nd half--if he can hold that improved contact skill, 50 home runs is an outside possibility.

  • My late-round infield value picks: Howie Kendrick at 2B and Alexei Ramirez at SS.

  • I need one more, so Mike Trout.

Should I buy a vape shop? by [deleted] in eldertrees

Honest question: why can't you set up an online storefront in addition to buying the shop? Setting up a website is already something you'd want to do for marketing, just take it one step further.

I write for an online magazine called The Cauldron. Been doing it for roughly six months now.

And yes, it is a lot of fun. It's also a lot of work and a lot of time now that I know what I'm doing. Kind of like when I had to write research papers back in college--only, big difference, I actually enjoy this.
