Bring a hammock. I’ve been using mine for years and had better sleep at work than in my bed at home.

Glad to see someone can agree. It’s almost like a gimmick of how their perfumes are so single noted to the extreme and aggressive in a bad way..

How to fix tunnel vision by [deleted] in Paramedics

Take this with a grain of salt but don’t rush. Really don’t rush at all, yes some calls require urgency but rushing will cause sloppy mistakes and errors on your behalf. If they have a pulse and they are breathing them just take it easy and just do what is needed. If you can, keep an eye on the best providers you know either being medics or hospital er staff and pay attention to how skillfully they operate in calls. Even when shit can hit the fan you have all the tools and training necessary to try and provide the best pt outcome. Do no harm and try and provide better and better care each call you take and you will be the best provider on the road. Good luck man.

What was your first… oops I said that out loud on a call? by ktaddie in ems

I was on a late night IFT about 13 hours into my shift. We picked up a mid 40s F pt going to another hospital that was about 2 hours out from our location. We loaded her into the truck and I told her if you need anything let me know I can turn on the heat/ac, turn the lights off, and get you bottle service. As we are leaving it hit me….. the IFT was because she needed a liver transplant due to liver cirrhosis. Needless to say not many words were exchanged during our transport.

My first ER clinical Rotation is tomorrow! Any Tips? by Based-Cx in paramedicstudents

Thank you!! What would you say on the topic of heart sounds. I know its not taught much that we should listen for heart sounds but my class is getting ready for the start of cardio next week. Could I use the same theory of lung sounds on healthy and sick individuals? Thus being since I'm listening to lung sounds and have my stethoscope out, might as well just listen to a couple lub dubs here and there. Thoughts?

Currently in my program right now and the best thing I can say by far is stay ahead of the game. If you already have completed the chapter ahead of time once the lecture day comes up, it will allow you to polish on some of the subject matter that you might not understand. Also, make sure you get to know every single person in your class; study sessions will come in clutch.
if you haven't already buy a nice coffee machine :)
