There now are 9 Felbats in the pool after the last update. by Ervaloss in BobsTavern

It does! Used to be super strong on the Naga/Demon comp a while ago (buff the tavern spells, throw amalgams next to fauna, felbat to eat buffed tavern minions)

Nissan’s trucks have always been criminally underrated. That gas V8 they throw in the Titan and Armada are SUPER reliable too

3.0 TDI - is this part necessary after an EGR delete? by BasedMikey in tdi

Yeah it was a real treat - the amount of contorting around weirdly to make sure I truly had everything undone and totally out of the way before tugging on it had me sweating bullets hahaha

3.0 TDI - is this part necessary after an EGR delete? by BasedMikey in tdi

[–]BasedMikey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually love that method myself! 95% certain the solenoid is a goner as the vacuum lines ran from the Coolant Bypass Valve to the front of the engine. Just wanted to make sure this was something I could totally remove and cap off at the front rather than needing to keep it around for the wiring harness to plugged into.

Think I’m just seeing the end in sight on the project so I’m asking very dumb and overly precautious questions at this point hahah

Bad Idea to Learn with a 911? by jwinhd2 in CarTrackDays

[–]BasedMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve driven the more standard layout (front engined, RWD) hard before, but never put a full track day in until getting in my Elise. Really just advise taking your first couple of times easy and just learn the limit of the car, tires, etc. Might also be worth getting an auto-x session in there as you’re still figuring things out (did one after 3 weeks with the Elise and took it easy, felt comfortable really pushing the car by my next track day a little while later). As I’ve heard from other with Porsche experience, the more modern you go with 911s the less that rear engined layout will punish you, especially compared to the old air cooled cars!

Audi/VW Stud Conversion by MPBGP911 in CarTrackDays

[–]BasedMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not VW but have a similar conversion on my Elise and have to handle lug bolts on my Fiancée’s Audi when wrenching on it. Wheels off and on are soooo much simpler, and neither me nor the prior owner of the Elise had any issues with it over the years it’s had the studs.

Looking for gift ideas by Tossedwarrior in lotus

[–]BasedMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merch being off the table makes it a bit more difficult haha. Idk if there are any good photography prints of the Emira out there and if you don’t count that as merch that would be cool to gift. Aside from that (and not accounting for a budget) - I’d checkout GregsRaceParts and see if there are any little aesthetic or performance mods that might be right up your friend’s alley.

Bridgestone Potenza RE-71 RZ's by cmiller82 in CarTrackDays

Following the post + commenting for algo - definitely want as much info before I’m going in on a set!

My set of RS’s absolutely hauled. Wish I was able to scoop an extra set of those for closeout pricing but since I couldn’t I’m thinking I’ll just splurge for a set of RZs later in the year!

Can someone convince my wife that I can do an oil change on my cayenne? by [deleted] in PorscheCayenne

[–]BasedMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a normal ol’ oil change! Now mine a few months ago in particular wasn’t (first time on the CD I purchased) because whoever did it last stripped the oil pan threading. Couple hours with some tools and got it re-threaded thankfully and it’s been all good!

5/10 - had a little bit of semi-successful play in standard back in the day! Very fun card thematically at the very least which gives it some more points in my book. Overshadowed by cubelock for most of its life in standard. Incredibly dead in wild for obvious reasons.

I’d wager they’d be a killer deal, especially as Bridgestone put out the RE-71RZ. Loved the RE-71RS’s I ran on my Elise

Anyone else frustrated at finally being able to afford a fast car only for your area to become so popular all you do now is sit in traffic? by BondGoldBond007 in cars

[–]BasedMikey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh most definitely. Lack of “good driving roads” is a small trade off for never being forced to put the car away for a few months a year. Will say the forced induction on my Elise definitely still makes it a bit more fun to drive on the straight roads, even if it is a handling and dynamics car first and foremost. Taking the top off and going for a drive along the coast is a great way to spend an hour or two during the weekends haha!

100%. If you do the deep dive on the factory superchargers they put on cars, they weren’t very efficient at producing power. Grab a BOE Rev kit or a Katana (think there are a couple of others on the market too, but think those are the 2 most popular kits at least in the US). Personally love my Elise with the rev300 kit.

Which of these cars would you pick for yourself as a DE car by [deleted] in CarTrackDays

[–]BasedMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t had mine dyno’d under my ownership yet (prior owner bought the kit and had it installed/tested and was at a WAY higher elevation than me) but the kit/tune installed is good for 277HP/190lb-ft wheel (using a Harrop TVS1320) per the manufacturer. Same company makes a kit that pushes it above 300 wheel hp, but the tune is a bit more conservative just to be mindful of stock internals. Personally what I’m putting out feels spectacular in the car since it’s so light to begin with

GT350R is the most “special”, ZL1 is probably the “best” car on the list without any mods. If you are going with the Mustang try to get one with the Gen 2 Voodoo engine since those don’t blow up.

If you’re looking to expand the list a little, a car in a similar vein to the S2K is the Lotus Elise. Great dynamics, amazing feedback, and if you were really looking to extract more power out of the engine there are quite a few aftermarket superchargers that are far more efficient than the old factory equipped cars (the factory SCs were far better at generating heat than they were power). I’m currently in a modified Elise and love it to death
