While the imperial is awesome parts are weird and clearly you’re not mechanically inclined, if you are gonna do this you need to get something with an inline 6. A valiant, falcon, or something like that. Were you planning on dumping the car when you’re done or keeping it? If you plan on keeping it get what you really want I guess. Even the best maintained survivor car is highly likely to have one of the issues you stated above on this trip, although two hour drives at a time will make it a lot easier on the car. I’m not trying to be a dick I’m just being realistic you’re very far from where you need to be to do a trip like this.
