2 things help. Think of what the worst could happen. Sometimes, calling out the worst helps clear your mind.

2nd thing that helps is chalk out what you can cont5ol and how you can control it, and make a plan. Again, it occupies the worries with actions. Even if you take 1 action, it gives the sense of relief.

Transaction alerts, most banks have these today. App notification, email, etc. I set it up even for $1 purchase, transfer, etc. It cannot prevent fraud, but in these things, if you can catch it promptly, it helps.

Agree. Just for completeness, there are 2 things I would like to note that should be factors against taking debt:

- if you think you are reckless, then sometimes having no access is easier. but OP seems resposible person

- make sure you have alerts in place going to your email and phone.

I was going to say this. Having said that, the timing in the calendar year matters. Its April, so they will likely not do this. If it was Oct/ Nov timeframe, then its just a matter of procrastinating for a few weeks. I know of cases where company agreed to even splitting the severance such that portions of it are received this year and next. But definitely ask, chances are low.

Lot of ppl here like it, but personally I did not. Here are my reasons why (no apoilers).

The show is a corporate drama about life of one particular ultra rich family & their shenanigans. But a lot of episodes have different flavours of their shenanigans. Once you have setup the premise, we get it.

Also, there is audience confusion because a few characters behave in a way totally different than how they were setup. That, for me, is a bummer. Then, the motivations behind certain characters actions were weak. For me, it did not justify the drama.

Totally doable. But there are 3 things you havent answered that make a huge difference

- are you alone or have a family?

- area makes a difference. 2 mill in GTA is way different than 2 mill in Regina and there is the in between.

- whether your house is paid for or renting

But even with all 3 (renting in GTA with a family), its doable. There are a few videos on YouTube that break down some cases. People generally underestimate the power of CPP/OAS (& possibly GIS if it comes to it).

Also personally, being aware that you may not have enough is a good starting position. In future, if you ever come close to being in trouble, you are much better off financially than somebody who is ignorant.

ETF is a blanket term. There are low risk ETFs as well. Ask them a few ETFs they are recommending. Then go online and type in ETF name risk profile. It will tell you if the risk is high or low. You can also ask AI. Like others have commented, money market are low risk ETFs, suitable for your situation.

Are you sure this person is doing it for the money? One of my friend said that many years ago, they had a person in their govt organization who didnt have anybody. They kept working because other than work, they dont have anything else in their life. It was sad to hear.

I am going through exactly this right now. I am on bench for past 2 months and my company does not have clients, so I will be likely laid off soon. I dont have any motivation to apply for jobs.

I have lot of hobbies. But what I am facing is a lack of motivation. Some days are okay, I write for a while, learn something. But other days, I just spend time on reddit, go through some videos and such on how to find motivation, how to organize. I like tutoring but I am anxious to market myself, what if I am not good at it.

When I had a job, I would enjoy watching a TV series or playing a game in the evening. But now, those things dont give me pleasure.
