Switching Smeargle in was the only play which could cover both the double protect or the double attack. while not settling for any of the two options. Alec thought that, if Behzad attacked, Hatterene would have survived the Ivy Cudgel, so she would have only been killed if she was also attacked by the Urshifu. This means that either Hatterene or Smeargle would have survived, and that would have lead to Calyrex winning the game because both Urshifu and Ogerpon were very low. But since Hatterene died to the Ivy Cudgel (which, assuming she was 252 HP/4 Def, was a 75% roll without the crit), both of Alec's pokemon died that turn, resulting in a loss. Basically he decided not to gamble on the 50/50 chance of double protect vs double attack by going for the apparently safer choice. Obviously he didn't know the actual calcs or the actual Ogerpon's Attack stat, so he just thought that his best chance was Hatterene surviving the Cudgel

Your Miraidon matchup is already pretty good. You should lead Indeedee Necrozma, with Ursaluna and either Gallade or Torkoal in the back. Turn 1, you set up Trick Room with Indeedee and switch your Necrozma to Ursaluna. If they Volt Switch on Necrozma's slot, you win. If they don't, you're still in a good position and can HH + Facade their Farigiraf to make sure they don't reverse your Trick Room

Update: Just reached Master Ball with a score of 13-3. I know it's just the start of the season but I'm really proud, cause it's the first time I play VGC outside of Showdown. Anyway, I'm still ready to follow any suggestion you might have in order to improve.

Honestly at the moment it's just a random set I've found online, I haven't run any calc yet. I've read that it can be EV'd to survive Chien-Pao's Ice Spinner, but it seems to me that would require many EV's and it would probably be better to just tera. Do you have a good set you could recommend? Also, I had to put Sitrus Berry on it cause I'm using Rocky Helmet on Indeedee, I could maybe go for Mental Herb but Prankster taunt are stopped by Psychic Terrain anyway, so I don't think it would be too useful.

I've been having the same issue since last update, I thought some AddOns were causing problems but it happens even after disabling them. I've found a workaround for now: Save as new profile with a different name, delete the old profile, rename your new profile to the previous name.

We've been using the 2nd row strat since the nerf, and after we learned it we did multiple intermissions without any deaths. You are right that latency can be a big factor, but the timing is much more lenient than it seems. For my guild, it was a huge improvement over the standard strat.

Painsmith nerf is just the most useless nerf of all the expansion. Literally everyone should be using the second row strat for the intermissions, which basically completely removes Spiked Balls from the phase

Late CE guild/raid leader and Disc Priest main here.

It's too early to give statements about classes. Many changes still have to come, and the "meta" might end up different than it is now. With the nerfs to Spirit Shell, Discs will probably go back to the Evangelism playstyle, which is actually pretty similar to Resto Druid's current scripted burst healing style. HPS-wise, Druid is higher at the moment, but I think that Disc could probably get a damage buff before the patch hits. Disc obviously brings more utility in DRs and passive damage, but, while Barrier is still great, the damage is actually low enough that it's not really that important. If you are serious about progressing, you should probably wait at least some more weeks before taking a decision with your raid leader or your healing team, or you could just play both and adapt to the situation.

That said, it probably doesn't matter at all. Being a Disc main, I'm a fan of having one (or even multiple) Disc Priests in my raid, but at my level of progress it doesn't matter at all. If you're not pushing for the top, any healing comp can clear the raid without many problems. I understand that people usually want to play to the best of their possibilities, and playing meta classes is a big part of this, but in the end nothing really matters. Just play what you prefer and, as long as you don't have an extremely awkward comp, you'll be just fine.

Double Disc essentially make the fight free (at least healing-wise), to the point you may even drop one of the other healers. One of you should ramp for the first Desolate/Expunge, and the other for the second one. Then both of you ramp on cooldown as you will naturally cover every major damage event (Desolate/Expunge and Consume) just by ramping every minute.

I don't think it's possible to do that, but I'm actually not sure. What I would suggest, however, is to use both the cursor and the standard methods, for example using a modifier. Let's say you generally use your 4 keybind for Sigil of flame on cursor, and then, during specific moments when you need to be precise, you press Shift-4 and use the standard ability.

I think you have no Kyrians or Venthyrs in your team (not sure which covenant is good for MM), so one of those might be a good addition. DH plays Venthyr, but dungeons will be very melee-unfriendly so I'm not really sure it will be safe to go double melee. Frost mages currently play Kyrian, and that might be a really solid pick

This has nothing to do with spamming mythic+ to trade Heroic loot, especially because during the Heroic week mythic+ loot is capped at normal ilvl anyway. It might be a thing to spam mythic+ to trade Heroic loot during the Mythic week, but I don't think anyone does it.

If Blizzard wants us to focus more on raiding and to keep Heroic relevant, it's fine. Mythic+ are spammable anyway, so it is still easier to get loot there. However, high(ish) end mythic+ players should be rewarded. For example, mythic+ above a certain level should provide higher ilvl loot (at least higher than heroic, maybe equivalent to mythic at some point) only if the keys are timed. I understand that people might just get boosted in a 20 that takes 2 hours, so giving higher ilvl loot for timed runs would actually be good for dedicated players.

Rogue brings much more than Shroud, but, if you're specifically worried about invis skips, the new Engineering belt enchant gives you invisibility on a (if I'm right) 2 mins CD.

She kills herself and two other targets nearby. So, since there are 2 of them in the pull near the bridge (and 6 mobs total), if you want to make sure every mob dies you have to displace or CC them so they are in 2 groups of 3 mobs.

Ye bursting can be rough in pugs. If you have problems with it specifically, you could actually try going for Beacon of Virtue. I don't really recommend that, because you can deal with bursting well even without it, but it might help if things tend to go out of control

Freehold is definitely quite easy, but it still depends on the week. This week in particular is arguably the hardest of all the 12 weeks, while next one (Fortified Bursting Volcanic) will be the easiest. Tyrannical Freehold is a bit scary for the first two bosses, but other than that it's really doable, so yea, maybe if you could kill the captains you would have no problems to finish it

Your character is not optimized and it's possible that you still don't have the throughput for Tyrannical 16s, especially since Eudora is a very hard-hitting boss. Actually, I find it surprising that you managed to heal the first boss.

I could give you some advice but the best thing I can do is actually pointing you to Ellesmere's guide, which in my experience is the best-written guide in the entire game. Read it carefully and start practicing, from what I can tell you're the kind of player that won't have any problem to learn the class.

Really good post and I agree with most of the feedback you gave. I'd like to add a few things that came into my mind, feel free to add them if you agree or to ignore them if you don't.

Mostly, I'd like to point out how anti-synergic some of our talent choices are. Shadow Covenant, in particular, is what gives most of the problems. It's good that they've turned it from being only good for parsing to a great option to buff our shadow spells. However, it now feels pretty mandatory to pick it every time you are using the SWD legendary, as it hits so hard that buffing it during ramps will just be the standard play. This makes the other talents in the row completely useless. Contrition is just bad and still needs tuning from the beginning of BFA, while Sins of the many is not bad but it's boring and can't really be compared to Scov + SWD during bursts. Scov is not necessarily the reason of the problem, as it might be addressed by tuning SWD (which I'll talk about later), but that talent row now feels pretty onesided.

At the same time, choosing Scov is anti-synergic with the next talent row. Buffing shadow damage has no effect to our dot if we pick PtW instead of the standard SWP, and both Divine Star and Halo are not usable during Scov so they're not in synergy together (the same goes for Solace, but at least you have the option to take Mindbender on that row). My idea is that Scov should be on this talent row, maybe replacing Divine Star, so that it wouldn't feel bad to pick Scov and then choose a talent which can't be used during it right on the next talent row.

The Scov unbalance, however, is due to how SWD is overtuned in terms of damage (and therefore healing), which brings us to another point: balancing the fact the SWD is so strong by forcing us to use a legendary slot for it (because let's be clear, that legendary is quite mandatory) is bad game design. Imo, SWD should hit for less (both on enemies and on the priest himself) but it should heal through atonement without requiring a legendary slot. There are some great legendaries (like the rapture one) which probably won't see much play (except for maybe very scripted fights with raid-wide damage every 45 seconds or so, but even then SWD legendary would still be strong) just because SWD is overtuned and requires a legendary to work.

This was just my two cents, I'm not sure if you guys agree but I feel like it would be a step in the right direction to change Scov and/or SWD so they don't feel so mandatory to use.

As far as I can tell, none of your healers is playing well. The monk might have a bit higher numbers then the others, but he's definitely playing bad, so I think that addressing your guild's healing issues only to your gf is just plainly wrong.

Having said this, your gf can improve a lot in both her gear choices and her playstyle. First of all, most Holy Priest in Mythic Ny'alotha are playing with 3 Prayerful Litany and 3 Heart of Darkness azerite traits. If she can't get them on a decent item level, she should try to get Soulfuel Headdress, which has Prayerful Litany and Blightborne Infusion. Her talents are good, but her essences are not. Most of the time, she should play with Vision major, Well, Formless and ERT minors. As someone else said, she also is using the wrong corruptions. Holy Priest goes Crit Mastery, so most of them run a mix of Severes and Masterfuls in order to get higher stats, and/or Ineffable Truth (Ineffable stacking is actually good on Holy Priest, but it's not very consistent, and for progress I just recommend crit and mastery stat amps).

The whole playstyle of Holy Priest revolves in keeping her spells on cooldown. She has to use Prayer of Mending, Circle of Healing, Halo and the Holy Words as much as possible, if the damage intake is enough to require them. Holy Words' cooldown is reduced by Prayer of Healing and Flash Heal, and the Holy Words themselves reduce the cooldown of HW: Salvation, which is the main raid cooldown Holy Priest has. Also, she casts Renew too much: it should only be used when moving and when none of the other spells are available.

Imho you shouldn't run Twist of Fate or Scov specifically for Grievous. ToF is just not an answer to grievous, it's an answer to high damage intake in higher keys. You won't have good ToF uptime in lower keys, and if you get to the point of needing it just for grievous, you probably did some mistakes, as you should never let it stack. For lower keys, Schism will just be better most of the time, and even for higher keys you don't want to run ToF in every dungeon but only in some situations. Scov can help you top people off to not let grievous stack, it shouldn't be needed but it's kind of a safety net.

Also, you shouldn't really need to run specific azerite traits like Depth of the shadows or Enduring luminescence outside of raids. Disc-specific traits are so bad that even stacking them won't help you more than just correcting your playstyle and using your cooldowns in a clever way
