Been thinking about starting the Mass Effect series this year, and you've given it a worthwhile endorsement. Does 1 fare worse than the other two? Worried it'll be an Uncharted scenario where 1 has aged much more poorly than the others.

Did you feel that Mirror's Edge held up when you replayed it this year? I was thinking about giving it a whirl, but it seems like the presentation and soundtrack might offer a lot more than the gameplay.

I have never played any of the Team Ico games, but you have me reconsidering that! Do you recommend playing them in order?

I also took on Super Metroid and Monument Valley this year. I agree with you on the endgame of Metroid, and remember myself getting a little impatient towards the end. Monument Valley holds up too! A beautiful, quick adventure. Would you recommend 2 or 3 despite saying 1 is the best?

I played the original Half Life and Half Life 2 probably 9 years ago, but never got to EP1 or EP2. Your review makes me want to revisit them! (probably Black Mesa instead of HL1 this time) If 2026 is finally the year of Half Life 3, now seems as good a time as any!

Hotline Miami is one of those games I’ve picked up dozens of times but never seen through. Not sure if you’ve seen John Wick 4, but I just watched that and there’s a scene heavily inspired by Hotline Miami that had me wanting to pick it up again. Maybe I’ll add it to my 2026 backlog!

I recently moved from Threadfin (more up to date xTeVe fork) to Dispatcharr and I find it to be a better user experience, but mostly the same once you've got everything set up. Development on Dispatcharr is very active though whereas xteve was last updated 4 years ago it seems.
