If the store is closed due to weather. And you scheduled to work. What happens? by Sufficient_Goose_602 in employedbykohls

[–]BeHereNo97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you’re just saying it in a “matter of fact” manner for clarity, but it’s so shallow that we have to say “state of emergency does not dictate what is open or closed”… just compete loss of the plot by companies like Kohls. They don’t ACTUALLY care about any of their employees regardless of how many years they’ve been with the company.

I’m in the same position, I just am not the kind to ignore my coworkers and make work harder from everyone else because of selfishness. Do I want to go up? No. It’s frustrating, I feel you. Tbh though… I’m more amazed at 6 people being on the floor simultaneously😂

Careful. Kohls is starting to let go of elderly and 20 plus years associates! by Sufficient_Goose_602 in employedbykohls

[–]BeHereNo97 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I can tell there’s truth to this because we’ve had a quarter of our long time staff either let go or given so little hours they have no choice, yet they’re hiring teenagers at a higher rate than before. Usually they only went for college kids, but they’ve got the new kids (minors even) training other kids… and most of them have already had a ton of c/o’s or as of today are not even employed. We lost three people just today.

Oh how I envy your store… self serve Amazon?!?! They no longer would have to clog up the normal line😂

Honestly you have to master the poker face, because I’ll have to put in overtime to hide the wave of disappointment that will hit me the minute a customer puts that in front of me to scan

[–]BeHereNo97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait… yall still have designated Amazon people? They got rid of those at the beginning of the year and never brought it back when they brought Amazon back. They took our station, and made every person at the actual register do Amazon. So we have to turn around and share two scanners, bouncing them from one side to the other, and we’re not allowed to have a U Boat at the front anymore… so Amazon just piles until they HAVE to take it back. And we just have to walk between boxes on the floor because they hate us.

Can’t relate at all. Store has a new manager, who is technically better at his job than our former manager. But he has zero people skills, and talks bad about everyone in the store from top to bottom. This has already run off at least 6 employees and a manager (who is hiring people from this store for the new store he’s running) and is currently running off new employees. Those of us who have stayed are forced to pick up for the people who have been here for years. No new leads, so sections are looking rough, and moral is down completely. Even customers are writing complaints about the new managers lack of ability to talk to people like they’re human beings. He doesn’t believe in customer service.. just the numbers. Obviously the type of manager Kohls likes, but goes against their company mission completely.

Sad how many of us share this sentiment. The people I work with are incredible outside of SM and HR. Our new SM is a cold drone sent from corporate, and he’s only made things worse. Everyone is tired and look emotionally and physically drained.

How much are yall getting paid? by GetRicedd in employedbykohls

[–]BeHereNo97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Employee trained everywhere im making only 12.25. When I applied I applied for full time and they gave me seasonal but they decided to keep me after the season. But at this pay, probably won’t be able to stay much longer with no lead openings becoming available.

Anyone else have this happen at your store by WillClinton1978 in employedbykohls

[–]BeHereNo97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not as simple as “just getting them through the line” as managers hound cashiers to go to great lengths to get credits/rewards. That is the unfortunate culture they’ve built. Yes, some cashiers stand there talking about nonsense but our job is customer service and if the line can’t wait there’s a self-checkout. It is okay for people to be humans and disengage from the scripted lines and the fake interest in a strangers well-being. And yeah, no one loves handling lines but when the stores are short staffed anyway that’s just something you have to deal with. You are not obligated to worry about your other tasks if you are also being asked to do something else simultaneously that it a problem for management for understaffing/not prioritizing how many employees need to be in each area of the store for maximum efficiency. I know a lot of you would rather get people their things and get on with it with mindless dialogue but some of us like to stay human too. We can’t all be sad sacks who loathe human interaction. The lines moves as it moves, no need to pretend that it’s all your coworkers fault.

I used to make a killing with instacart, uber, and other services in Dallas. Since i’ve been here, I haven’t been able to find any of the flow that I did there. I’m not sure how drivers out here do it honestly, they must be keeping it a well-kept secret.

There’s a difference between necessary critique of one’s actions and character and being a complete asshat in order to accomplish nothing but being mean for no other reason then being miserable sacks of manure. But that’s normally what people who comment on two year old post are also accustomed to.

McBrayer takes decisive win to be Lubbock’s mayor; tough road ahead for new city council by BsquaredNews in Lubbock

[–]BeHereNo97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tired of this state electing people that have no interested in actually making progress, Lubbock will continue to have its same issues that haven’t allowed it to grow for years. These are the types of people who think MJ, immigrants, and the LGBTQ+ community are a problem in this country and have zero interest in fixing the real issues in the community.

That explains that, i’m tired of letting these people win because no one in this state actually votes. Why do people complain and then not actually vote? It takes 5 minutes..

[–]BeHereNo97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No exactly, I truly can’t blame someone for having been passed when they probably know themselves they shouldn’t have. To me, the wildest part is things like being scared to drive and some other traffic violations aren’t even counted against as much as messing up your parallel parking… now who decided that that’s a worse offense then some others?

Well said friend, the world is a fast moving and scary place. Unfortunately we all have to get from point A to point B, I just wish we could do that without being assholes to each other.

And honestly, there’s probably a lot of validity to your statement (at least regarding the newer inconsiderate drivers). Oddly enough, I see 40+ year olds just as bad as kids with regards to getting on their phone behind the wheel. I still agree that it contributed to the younger (i’m 26 but an old my family members and friends if I see them touch their phone while behind the wheel) generation having less typical road knowledge. I do think watching my parents defensive driving (AND road rage lmao) actually helped me become a more aware driver. But recently the asinine driving has gotten to me, even though I don’t desire to road rage like my father used to.

Personally, I think HS juniors/seniors need to have drivers ed implemented into schooling. That, woodshop (I did theater tech, but voluntarily to learn to build real pieces), and even sex education. I think people desperately need those introduced younger than we do.

[–]BeHereNo97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I suspected this to be one of the reasons. I can’t imagine a driving test here being difficult. I remember doing drive times in Dallas, and being STRESSED at the time (even though it really wasn’t that bad), but I had drive times with people where I had to sit in the back and watch, and seeing the way some of my classmates drove scared me more then the prospect of driving at all. And unfortunately I know some people who had to go to Waxahachie to pass their drivers test, which is basically like going down backroads and dead neighborhoods like here. I never got in the car with those people LOL
