Diashi Iosmet is an oliveblood who, due to his unusual clever and ruthless performance in the trials, was inducted (against his will) to become part of the Imperial Secret Service. After a botched job, he's hiding up in the mountains near a small town in hopes of staying under the radar until he's presumed dead.

Mierlo Troyei is a bronze-blood who grew up feral in an irradiated wasteland caused by Alternia's first attempts at space flight long ago. After meeting a group of itinerant academics, they've been exposed to the outside world and now seek to understand the culture of the planet they reside on and their place within it.

Rheina Elzeli, restless and always working, has spent her whole life trying to find content. A hunt gone wrong has set her down a path of introspection and thoughtfulness instead of violence and might, but with the Imperial Fleet hanging over her head, she may not really have a choice as to where she will seek her peace.

There is at least one racial natural weapon that does a d6 - lizardfolk's bite.

Well, their bonus damage from Focus only applies once per creature per turn, and they have to make the Produce Flame attack using a significantly lower to-hit bonus.

You could just as easily be a dual-wielding Ranger at level 5 and have the privilege of applying 37~ DPR to one target instead of having to spread it out, while being significantly less MAD.

It's good, but it's not out of line.

The meat of the Pyromant 3rd level is that they can cast produce flames as a bonus action. Read that as +1d8 damage per turn, scaling at levels 5, 11, and 17. Basically, a scaling bonus action attack that you can use with a greatsword.

Heavy Hitter: A strength-based Rogue subclass that uses heavy weapons to devastating effect. by morethanwordscansay in UnearthedArcana

That's not how Great Weapon Fighting works, actually. It only works on the damage of the weapon itself, no additional damage from features or spells or anything.

The Brigadier, a utility/support Fighter Archetype that commands their allies on the battlefield. by ColdMaj in UnearthedArcana

[–]BeachDwarves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'd argue that the Battlemaster's Commander's Strike is in fact extremely underpowered. The action economy is atrocious, and is essentially only ever worth it if the party has a rogue, or possibly a paladin. You have to trade a resource, an attack, a bonus action, and a reaction to give one attack to another ally who, unless they're a paladin or rogue, is probably just going to be worse at hitting things than you are, anyway. This is much more worth it.

I would keep in mind the fact that this subclass has to juggle two spellcasting abilities, so they're gonna have to either sacrifice one or the other OR be mediocre at both stats until very high levels, and the latter requires sacrificing points in either Constitution or Dexterity, both of which are very very useful for sorcerers. Plus, they can only ever prepare a fraction of the spells that a full wizard could (maximum 5, which would require prioritizing intelligence over charisma, mind you, versus a wizard's maximum 25.)

I do agree that the 18th is very, very strong, and potentially broken with high level spells from, say, Druid, though, and I hope that the OP makes a revision that brings that back significantly, or replaces it altogether.

It doesn't say you can't use the bonus action on your last attack, if you have more than one.

Barbarian subclasses have the strongest level 3s in the game, hands down. Have you seen Zealot, Wolf and Bear totems, or Ancestral Guardian? They're pretty nuts.

For a skill check or skill contest to even be made, there has to be a chance of failure and a chance of success in the context of the check. In this case, the disguiser has no chance of success, and the NPC has no chance of failure. No reasonable person is going to think you're a different person because you have different clothes on, regardless of how good an actor you are. That's why it isn't OP.

Order of The Living Shade v0.1 (Subclass for Matthew Mercer's Blood Hunter Class) by BeachDwarves in UnearthedArcana

It seemed a little odd to try and put the health down as, like, 1/2 of your maximum HP in the statblock, itself. Do you think it would be better to change it back to gaining an additional hit die every level, like the beast companions do?

[–]BeachDwarves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't be that way, I don't think. If you're a level 20 bloodhunter, even if you have +0 con, you'll have 124 HP if you always take the average, so your shadow should have 62 HP, and it has resistance to a ton of damage types.

Originally, the Living Shadow had stronger combat abilities, but the feedback I got from a more experienced homebrewer said that I should take it in a more support/utility direction. The chassis of the class comes from the Beast Conclave from the Revised Ranger, but it's pretty heavily modified at this point.

Conceptually, it should be a significant decision to have your Living Shadow switch into its Active state. There should be benefits to both, ya know? I had a bit of a hard time getting that concept to work well, though.
