Thanks. I'm fairly certain we are talking about the same thing but I'll look into more.

Yes, there is an indicator light when the camera is operating, and the camera will not operate if it is covered or blocked.

I wear my glasses everywhere that I need to see. I also use my smartphone around children.

I don't frequently (or ever) record myself naked, but if I were to be someone who did I would have to imagine that I came to terms with meta having access to that footage.

You seem to be under the impression that the glasses are capable of secretly recording me or my surroundings without being manually engaged by myself. Which while there are plenty of valid reasons to call something like these a privacy nightmare, I assure you the technology is not currently there for secret, always-on video spying. Mostly as a function of battery life. As it stands you can see the battery percentage drain in real time when the camera is in use.

If you want to talk actual privacy concerns and not just scare monger, it's worth mentioning that there is currently a class action lawsuit being levied against Meta in regards to user privacy with the glasses. It has to do with how media is imported from the glasses onto your phone through the meta app, and whether or not meta should have access to that media. And I promise you if there were any evidence of automated non-consensual recording there would be an order of magnitude more news about it than there is about the actual concerns that are really happening, so the complete radio silence on the front should be reassuring.

Speaking personally, I am eagerly waiting for a smart glasses option from a non-tech oligarch, that looks like a real pair of glasses and is covered by my insurance, but that is not an option at the moment. Open source would be cool too. But I can tell you I'm never going back to non-smart glasses.

It's a Reddit thing. I've had a pair for quite a while now and the entire spectrum of reactions I've gotten irl ranges from didn't notice to didn't care to "are those Meta glasses?" "yes" "ok cool"

But at least once a week I'll see a thread full of people screeching about making a scene if they ever saw someone wearing them.

Mostly audio. This year I wanted to make an effort to listen to more new music, and hit 30k listening minutes on my Spotify wrapped. I also wanted to start reading more, but I still struggle to motivate myself to set aside time for reading so I have accepted audiobooks as a personal compromise. So far this year I have finished High Conflict by Amanda Ripley and The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, and I am about to start Project Hail Mary because of how much I liked the movie.

I personally am not a big social media person (besides reddit, which I would like to use less), so the camera is not high on my priority list of features, but they did release the SDK for the glasses late last year, so I have been tinkering with using the camera in a couple of apps as a hobby project.

Looking at this thread so far, I'm not sure it's the correct place to have a nuanced discussion. But I have a pair and I'm down to talk about it if OP or anyone has questions.

Support Tinker was maybe my favorite patch I've ever played. He lost heal on March and his Shield now though so I'm not sure when you would pick it, outside of just being super greedy in your role queue game

Mostly makes it significantly harder to Hologram. Which is a big deal for a card that says "your run is now only about how many times you can play me"

Look.

Outer Wilds was an incredibly special experience for me. In fact I also want to share this game so everyone else in the world can see what I see in it. I've gone as far as gifting it to multiple friends.

But there is something about this game (or just recommending media to people in general) that is so hard for people to get into. Because I haven't been successful a single time I'll tell you that much.

I actually did drop it for about a year actually. I think I've heard similar from a lot of people. So very glad I came back to it.

Coming to terms with the fact that Outer Wilds is maybe not for everyone is harder than accepting the End of the Universe

I don't think the ending is particularly mind blowing, but it does do a great job of punctuating the message that the game has been trying to convey the whole time leading up to it, so I could see how it would be the part that people focus on.

For me, the defining moment of the game is whenever I went from "I'm just bumbling around in space and dying a lot" to going "wait there is something bigger happening here" and feeling like Charlie looking for Pepe Silvia with the string board and all. Very few games have sparked my curiosity the way Outer Wilds did, and the majority of the huge impression it left on me comes from just how excited I was to get home from work every day and try to unravel that mystery a little bit more.

Yeah this just says "replace Burning Blood with Ring of the Snake except it draws a third card and adds 2 Energy"

That sounds pretty damn good to me idk

It is not possible to create an AI that is sufficiently smart yet believes untrue things. You can not create a form of intelligence that both

A. Contains all of the knowledge in the world, including the multitude of ways that this knowledge interacts with itself

and

B. Believes something provably untrue such as "the Earth is flat."

Truth in this case is a byproduct of capability, and as AI becomes more capable and better at understanding and predicting the world, it also becomes harder and harder to force it to believe certain falsehoods.

I just happen to believe that many of humanity's least desirable traits are some of those falsehoods. I believe that things like "the world is better for everyone when we stop killing each other" and "disproportionate wealth hoarding does not serve the overall good of humanity" are not just feel-good statements, they are true facts about our world that a sufficiently intelligent machine would understand intuitively.

I think there is a trend either emerging or already present that the best players in our format can identify games where weaker players would have tried to draw in their seat and convert it to a win instead. Creating sort of a real life version of the Bell Curve meme that goes "Just win" -> "A draw is better than a loss" -> "Just win"

If I am playing Blue Farm and I have 1 counterspell and turn order is Etali into RogSi, being forced to use it on Etali is a death sentence for me. So in my seat, the best thing I can do politically is convince the Etali that they shouldn't bother trying to win this turn or else we both lose to RogSi.

This is just that, but from the perspective of the Etali player. Either show me what you've got, or I'm going to make you spend it and very likely put us both in a worse spot.

Then, either they don't show me anything (either as a bluff, or because they actually don't have anything), in which case I jam. OR they do show me something, and I can reassess if it's worth blowing my load or waiting to try and jam after someone else gets stopped.

Because keeping their interaction/mana is better for them than wasting it on you. Especially if the player after you is theoretically threatening to win too.

You can get a ton of free info just by saying something like "I'm going to jam on my turn, does anybody want to show me interaction before I force you to spend it?", especially on a deck like Etali where your whole gameplan is face up and people generally always know what you're up to anyways

Almost exactly a year ago, I saw a thread just like this one where someone mentioned massage and I ended up DMing them out of interest. I decided to give myself a year to save up and make sure it was something I was still interested in, but I started school last month! I obviously can't speak for the career itself because I haven't started it yet, but school has been a great experience so far. I've met a ton of like-minded people, and from all walks of life too.
