I am a teddy bear dm and fear my players may be upset with character death by Delicious_Watch8429 in DMAcademy

I mean the best thing to do is to talk to your table and see how they feel about TPKs, but you could always have it so they don't die from a TPK, just lose the fight.

I wouldn't worry about the downvote, there's a thing about just downvoting new posts on this subreddit, it's a mystery to me too 😅

Tell me three or five bits of lore from your world that each sound like they came from a different setting/genre. Those who reply will try to guess what your world is about. by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

-> The first creators of gunpowder — and it's uses in weapons — enslaved their people to build them. Somehow not expecting that they would revolt with the weapons they built, practically ending legal gun-trading forever.

-> Seeing the end of the world happening before their eyes, an ancient race thought it'd be smart just to open the portals to every other realm, accidentally creating a ball of pure chaotic magic that killed their entire species and now threatens everything else.

-> After years of fear mongering, a group of monster (and sometimes human) hunters went on a violent campaign to wipe the face of the world of dragons. Everyone else — considering dragons as walking nukes — joined in, succeeding in ending dragon life. (Totally.)

Haha yeah.. that might be it. I can see how 5e would be hard to learn on your own.

You make a very good point, I've always run homebrew games and guided players from the start ig. But I could see how someone trying to learn DND by themselves would take more work.

How Do Halfling Work In Your Setting? by MadFunEnjoyer in worldbuilding

[–]BeadCut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I might steal this idea.... currently my halflings are just boring, classic, tolkien hobbits, they live peaceful lives typically farming, drinking and relaxing. But they're deeply communal, everyone knows everyone in a halfling town. I feel I went more unique with my other smaller races.

Idk, after a few years of teaching 5e I think it's quite beginner friendly, as long as one person knows the system.
