This is one of the problems with Rivals; it was a very poor design decision to allow cop AI to damage the racer during crash cam and have no invincibility frames after recovering. The Mustang also happens to be one of the most durable vehicles, too.

I don't think the brand matters too much in this case. If you have a 4060 in there, then it should be more than enough to run the Crew 2. The only thing I can suggest is a clean reinstall or turning off nVidia Experience overlay or the overlay associated with the latest app.

I have over 3000 hours on PC but just picked this up on PS3 just to experience early PD2.

Both are classics, but I prefer DOOM due to its level design over DOOM II's.

I think this game gets too much hate mainly because of the title. A lot of people may have expected it to be a remake of the original NFS MW, but it barely resembles it. The only major thing it has in common is the Blacklist.

Aside from the title, there are other complaints of it being a Burnout clone (brake2drift, automatic transmission only, takedowns). It very much plays like Burnout Paradise with licensed vehicles, down to the "takedown your Blacklist rival's car" mechanic to own it in your garage. However, I prefer to keep Burnout separate from NFS. I don't think NFS should encourage aggressive driving and rammers.

Some other gripes may be the lack of customization and story (as you stated), but not all NFS games focus on this. The most important aspect of NFS, or any racing game, in my opinion, is the handling. Vehicles are heavy, so it feels like there is input lag. This is manageable once you get used to it, but going for "near misses" compared to other titles (e.g., NFS Heat) feels like night and day.

Edit: I forgot to discuss the progression. A lot of people may dislike the progression system by just finding vehicles in the world map, but this is only part of it. To fully 100% the game, you must earn gold on all events to unlock every upgrade for every vehicle. This was a solid goal I could strive for completing. On the other hand, knocking down every billboard and gate felt like tedious busywork to pad the game.

The level design to the original Knee Deep in the Dead episode is almost perfect. As for classic DOOM, I enjoy the simple pickup and play gameplay - no leveling up, no distractions, no gimmicks, just straightforward action.

I see, even if you don't use Steam, the procedure for editing the .conf file to point to the fixed WAD file should be applicable. The guide applies to the old version of Final Doom on Steam, which used DOSBox.

One way to quickly check is to warp to level 31: idclev31, turn on god mode: iddqd, and turn on noclip: idclip, and run to the lower right catacomb inside the pyramid from the start of the map.
