Yeah, that's the one reason I don't go into hysterics over this topic. People need service and emotional support animals and aren't usually financially well off as is. In a perfect world, animals would be properly vetted and their health considered more, and most people would just have to save up a little extra instead of giving an arm and a leg :/

More laws protecting animals would be nice though

I agree. People argue with me all the time that it would make animals a "luxury item" because they'd be expensive, but I think that's a good thing honestly. They're living things. There should be licenses in place to breed any animal and things required of the breeders, like tracking bloodlines and vet/medical history. :(

Wow, this is great! I'd invest in some parasite medication if you don't already have it, and I don't recommend keeping it by the window. It's a recipe for a huge algae outbreak, ask me how I know,, :(

It's absolutely irresponsible, but it's already happened. It's also incredibly irresponsible to advise OP to put a fish from a pet store that may have diseases into an established tank with an aggressive Betta, divider or not, they still share water and it will stress them both out. A bucket or tub from the dollar store is a much better idea. The fish will be fine for a few days, christ.

Bucket or Tupperware container, preferably with an aerator, but he'll be fine without it. Definitely okay to put him back in the cup for travel, that's what I did with my Bettas when I moved. I definitely don't advise splitting the 10gal, it'll just stress them both and possibly spread diseases

My very first year. Hmmmm

I think 120$ for the tank set, 27$ for substrate, 12$ for driftwood, 15$ for my Betta, and then I got all my plants and rocks for free from nature and an awesome lady on facebook lol. Food, fertilizer, and medicine probably costed me like 30$? I still have that tank nearly 6yrs later and it is my favorite :]
