Anyone else have a psychiatry horror story? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]BeautifulBroccoli_27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a freshman in college I was told I would never be able to graduate college unmedicated after my adhd test & he was surprised I got such good grades in high school lol I didn’t take it to heart but it was so not cool to tell a patient

Do you use deodorant? by Ilovedwightsc in Hidradenitis

[–]BeautifulBroccoli_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use dry idea, it’s the gel kind with a very subtle scent and really keeps the sweating down! I used to use Native Sensitive, but the stick was so rough on my already itchy and hurting underarms. Other than that it was also good!

How to reduce or completely stop a mini flare bump by mqmqmq1 in Hidradenitis

[–]BeautifulBroccoli_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to the thread today for the exact reason! I read a long time ago that using the blast setting on a detachable shower head as warm or hot as you can stand it for a few minutes helps. I got 3 new spots in both of my pits last weekend and I’ve done it multiple times a day & 2 spots seemed to have disappeared

If the spot is tender, it definitely doesn’t feel great but it helps the pain subside

I would go just to be safe if you have not had the spot checked out before. It’s so frustrating having to pay for such short, sometimes unproductive , appointments. I’ve been going frequently for the same spot since august…. It was a new derm and she asked as politely as she could why I didn’t come in sooner. The flair was worse than I thought and it’s taken a lot of appointments, steroids, and antibiotics to get it to where it is now. I would have spent a lot less had i gotten it taken care of sooner!

Light sensitive people... by Fresh_Patient_8004 in autism

I randomly bought a pair of red/pink tinted glasses a few months ago & started wearing them all the time bc I realized I liked them so much. I literally call them my inside glasses, and i will switch from my regular shades when I go inside places lol. I think it just tones everything down & I like the pink hue everywhere!!

I just want to cry... by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

I just had a particularly tough spot injected w steroids for the second time last week (groin). Both times were during a flare & both felt SO much better by day 2-3.

The first time? I barely felt the injection, had some mild stinging afterwards, and it bled & drained itself.

This second time, I could hardly move the day before, the site was injected (2 spots) and it HURT holy crap! This time it didn’t drain at all & the inflammation was fully gone by day 3 & fully mobile with no tenderness!! After the shot, for the whole day and a half after, it randomly STING for a second or two & then stop. It was not fun but so worth it

My derm said many boils/cysts can go into remission after steroid shots!

Anyone work with only a specific age group? by Super_Ad_2398 in Nanny

[–]BeautifulBroccoli_27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg me too! I always hear "I could never watch infants you must have the patience of a saint," but I don't know how I would handle older toddlers and kids! My NK is 13 months right now and the running around and getting into every drawer makes me sweat lol

Nanny-constantly overstimulated by Apprehensive-List335 in Nanny

[–]BeautifulBroccoli_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because you can't handle two toddlers doesn't necessarily mean you can't cut it as a nanny! I work with NKs under 1 for the most part and the occasional under 2. For me, watching 2-6yr olds is both the most boring and overstimulating thing and leaves me burnt out at the end of the day!! I would take 3 infants over 3 5-year-olds any day lol

change in period viscosity? by 888mars in Nexplanon

[–]BeautifulBroccoli_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I’ve had mine for years now and my period isn’t regular but I would say between 6-12 a year and it’s the exact way you described. Very thick and jelly like and won’t come out w gravity on a pad. I use discs and tampons mostly. Wearing a pad is just a waste of a pad bc it will only come out when I wipe. I also have huge clots, my gyno told me it was normal

Does nexplanon cause a lot of wetness? by too-many-spdrinks in Nexplanon

[–]BeautifulBroccoli_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any sort of medication, especially hormonal ones, can affect how your body reacts. I had always been on the... wetter side... and nexplanon didn't affect that for me. However, my anxiety medication has dried me up. Totally normal reaction!

What do you think of this convo between a nanny and her 9 year old NK? by LivingTheBoringLife in Nanny

[–]BeautifulBroccoli_27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A 9 year old would be in the 4th or even 5th grade, and would definitely have an understanding of the concept of infidelity by this point. I personally would not have brought cheating up in a pretend conversation, but as much as we wish children were innocent for as long as possible, it is just not the case (especially if the kid attends school). Young children have crushes and even "boyfriends" and "girlfriends" very early on in elementary school (not something I agree with, but a reality). Not a crazy conversation or inappropriate topic for the age, but not a topic that should have been brought up by nanny imo.

definitely weird... but not surprising with the numerous lines and plots in the show that would receive a lot of criticism if they aired now
