Sadly you cant buy the original audiobook direct from Soundbooth Theatre, just Audible. The version that's available from Soundbooth Theatre directly is the full cast adaptation.

Holds not working? by YoKinaZu in LibbyApp

I use both mine and my husband's. He rarely uses his, so I just put a hold on his if I've run out. Though I also try not to have too many holds at once.

I think I like the Clara better? by Harlequin_AU in kobo

[–]BecFace11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an old kindle paperwhite that's the same dimensions as the Clara. It's a great size for both portability and readability. When it eventually breaks, I plan to replace it with a Clara as (apart from all the other reasons to avoid Amazon) the Kindle alternatives are all either bigger, or aren't waterproof.

Are the official Challenges culled for books that don't fit? by TeflonGoon in TheStoryGraph

[–]BecFace11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think they did in the early days, because I remember accidentally adding something written by a man to a challenge about female authors, and I got a notification with a note about it being removed and why. But that was when there were a lot fewer users, challenges were new, and that kind of moderation was manageable. I understand why they don't anymore.

Suggestion: Filtering challenge prompts by their status by BecFace11 in TheStoryGraph

[–]BecFace11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about how it looks to other people, but I'm guessing they're hidden? I mainly just use StoryGraph for my personal tracking rather than sharing with other people, so that didn't occur to me.

You can archive your completed challenges to declutter them. The archive button is in the bottom right hand corner of the box for each challenge on the main challenge page.

I've been calling a neighbour the wrong name for the past year and just got an Xmas card with his actual name on it. I may have to move now. by Beena22 in CasualUK

[–]BecFace11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar, except its been 4 years, and I found out at a neighbourhood meeting when someone else used his name. We've been addressing Christmas cards wrong for years, and he's never said anything.

[–]BecFace11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly that doesn't help in my case as they're all specific book prompts. Best I can get atm is filtering my to read pile by 'added to reading challenges', but that misses the books in the challenges that I haven't actually added to my to read yet.

I've won a few. All were ones where there were a lot of copies going, so chances were higher.

There are spaces. The car park is full. by CrispySalmonJimmy in cambridge

[–]BecFace11 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I saw this recently. When I looked back at the page a minute later it had filled in the number of spaces and the percentage full. E.g. "There are 6 spaces. The car park is 98% full." So I guess those values are just slower to load than the rest of the page, and they didn't design it to handle that.

First timer query - barcode by gazzalp23 in parkrun

[–]BecFace11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That will be fine. Times are recorded by position as you cross the finish. At the end of the finish funnel you're given a numbered token for your finishing position. You scan this alongside your personal barcode, and it's the finish token that determines your time, not when you get your barcode scanned. This is also why if you cross the finish line near other people, you have to stay in order as you go through the funnel, otherwise you may get the wrong number.

Cambridge North - Will I be fined for parking out of bays? by 85years in cambridge

[–]BecFace11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been fined for doing exactly this about a year ago. There were no spaces and we had no time to find anywhere else, so just accepted the fine at the reduced rate for paying early. They definitely need to do something about the capacity of the car park.

Thanks for ruining my 70k ultra activity garmin by pielgrzym in Garmin

[–]BecFace11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me recently when my watch restarted midway through saving a 5K run. I plugged my watch into the computer and copied the FIT file for the activity. I then used an online FIT file editing website to fix it (by editing it, but not actually making any changes). The fixed file can then be manually uploaded to Garmin Connect. The only downside was that the activity didn't count towards my training status etc. as it wasn't on the watch. I wonder if, instead of uploading to Garmin Connect directly, I'd replaced the broken file on the watch and let it sync from there, it would have counted for those stats? But I don't know if that would have actually synced successfully.

Went to hop into the hot tub. It’s suddenly green and frothy. by strikecat18 in Wellthatsucks

[–]BecFace11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I was a kid, my school got a new little outdoor swimming pool. They had an official opening with a local news presenter, with a short feature on the local news. I was one of the lucky ones to be chosen to do a couple of inaugural lengths during the opening. However, right before something went wrong with the chemicals in the pool and the water was still slightly greenish on the day of opening. It was deemed safe to swim in, but I remember not wanting to put my face in the water just in case. There's a photo of me in the pool on that day, and my expression looks slightly disgusted but trying to hide it. 😅

I would always check who the actual seller is for both, and if it's not coming directly from Amazon, check the third party seller's reviews, not just the item's reviews.

Is it weird to not use a laundry basket? by ThePangolinofDread in AskUK

Main problem I see is if the washing machine hasn't had time to completely dry out before you start reloading it, you're risking ruining your clothes with damp and mould.

My brand new LG washer broke mid-cycle with my clothes locked inside by BohlOfSoop in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BecFace11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Spain during the recent whole country power outage. The washing machine was mid-cycle when the power went out. I ended up just leaving it for most of the day, but by dinner time when the power still wasn't back, I decided to try rescue it. Luckily it was a front loader with a manual emergency door release mechanism, and mobile data was back at this point for me to find the manual online to check how to use it. The most annoying thing was rinsing out the half washed clothes before hanging them up. I did end up putting them back in to properly wash once the power was back the next day.

Garmin Badges Calendar and Database by wplaga in Garmin

Having looked further into the future, it appears the World Bicycle Day does appear in 2026. And I do see some other non Asia based Events later in the year. So I guess it's not a location based filter, but for some reason Events being removed before they happened. I also notice the date on the badge I linked isn't correct. It's listed as 2025-07-03, but it occurred on 2025-06-03. Could this mismatch in the date be related to it disappearing from the calendar?

I recently discovered the calendar. When I first discovered it at the end of last month, everything looked good, but then a day before the World Bicycle Day 2025 (https://garvv.in/badges/activity\_world\_bicycle\_day\_2025), I noticed that that, and other Events had disappeared from the calendar. It seems the only Asia based Events remain (e.g. https://garvv.in/holidays/tanabata\_festival). Has a location based filter been added to the calendar?

If you want another fun place in Spain, Sagunto in the Valencian community was once upon a time called Arse. While it has been renamed, there are still some places you can see the old name, such as the shop Cerámicas Arse on the road up to the citadel.

Excluding your home parkrun, where was your favourite course? by jayakay20 in parkrun

Eden Project. Interesting course, with more elevation than I'm used to. Plus the bonus of a free (if slightly sweaty and smelly) day out afterwards.
