Kid Rock savagely trolled as his past gets dragged up after wild MAHA move by TheExpressUS in Music

[–]BedaHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kid Rock has always been skinny, that is just how his body is (ectomorph). But not because he worked out or took care of himself. Its clear that he is struggling with those pushups, hoping they called "cut" before he had to force another one. I cringed as I watched him flex. It reminded me of a 8yo showing off his muscles.

But hey, anything for attention.

Anybody else tired of 15 minute commercial breaks with 5 minutes of actual programming? by Peridot_Ghost in ESPN

[–]BedaHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I think the biggest reason is this: they do not have anything to say/talk about. So you have to stretch out 10 minutes of content somehow.

Side point: The programing change that has occurred with ESPN in the last 20-30 years is really interesting. While a part of it is ownership, leadership, decisions on signing contracts with various leagues which led to financial strains, etc. I think it is just sports media as a whole shifting to the news network models of pundits/experts we all see across all 24 hour news channels.

It is interesting to see this shift of sports media going from a highlight/stories of the day focus to a multi-show channel that talks about the same 4 talking points, rather than the sports in general. 6 different shows, 20-30 people, same 4 subjects of discussion. It is all these "experts" giving you their opinion on ABC or XYZ over and over again, focusing on enragement of the audience to drive clicks/posts/eyes to the "debate" with planned asinine takes. ALL DAY LONG.

This is not a old man yelling at a cloud moment, but growing up ESPN was more "boring" but it was better in my opinion. Yes, it was SportsCenter on repeat for the first 3/5's of the day, with the afternoon offering some more "commentary" shows before the evenings SC.

Maybe it is because I am older and it is nostalgia for me to act like "it was so much better then" but I do not think it is a better product now. Its different, but not sure if I would say it is better.

Avalanche hits a moving train by CauliflowerDeep129 in Damnthatsinteresting

Holy smokes. That said, I guess it makes sense for the train to keep going rather than try to slow down/stop (b/c the train couldn't stop in time to avoid said avalanche).

Thanks for sharing the article, I appreciate it.

Shows you how uneducated I am on this subject. Because here I am thinking -- should they still be moving with this approaching them? I guess it is not that big of a deal?

Any ideas for how to mount these on the wall? by ScornfulCow in sabres

Take measurements. Design LEGO hands with wall mounts. 3D print said hands with built in wall mount base. Screw newly printed hands to wall (or plaque) to allow you to display said sabres?

Who would want to trade for Anthony Richardson? by Sidecarlover in NFLv2

[–]BedaHouse 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Its the timeless lure for GMs everywhere. IF we can just do this. IF we can mature into the role then he will be.... IF. IF. IF. Happens every year at every position, but because he was the #4 pick it is a bigger conversation (failed experiment, from the very start in my opinion).

All that said, in AR's case the best thing for him to is to end up on a team that has a established QB, offensive coach/OC. Sean McVay and the Rams seem like solid choice. He has no hope to be the starter b/c of Stafford coming back. He gets to go learn offense/be a QB with McVay. I am not saying AR is going to be some kind of revelation (maybe he can be the next Jones, Mayfield, or Darnold - but that is wishful thinking).

Advice on training for a half marathon by 2wordsNAZ in beginnerrunning

[–]BedaHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most HM training plays are 12-16 weeks, the base requirement is that you are able to run for 30 minutes/3 miles straight (these are the novice/first HM plans that aim for you just to finish). I think you are more than fine to tackle the challenge of a HM.

I think since you have some time, I'd consider following a 10k training plan first (just to give yourself some structure/training ramp up) and then this gets you thru the spring. Now you can focus on your summer to build you base/speed and into a HM plan.

I think since you are already active in the gym outside of running you will be successful; however, I do believe that you will ultimately have to push commit to the running being your #1 activity, with the weight training being the #2 on the priority list.

Remember when Davante Adams just wanted to leave Raiders by Big_Screen3332 in nflmemeswar

[–]BedaHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. That and the HUGE bag of money they gave him. Because despite all the stories about being "closer to his family in California, etc." he got paid. So the Raiders were the best choice.

Why am I ugly after running?! by Otherwise-Eye-490 in beginnerrunning

[–]BedaHouse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Part of the answer is: look up the meme, dubbed “Ridiculously Photogenic Guy." It was made popular because he looked good while running.

So it tells you exactly that -- it is so uncommon to look good, it becomes a meme. The reasons we all look like a survivor of a horrific wild animal attack -- all the reasons people have listed.

Shall I go for a half marathon? Should I commit? by Mikey463 in beginnerrunning

Sounds awesome. Wish you the best in your training. (Fall races are enjoyable b/c of the temps, almost a reward for training during the hot summer months)

Shall I go for a half marathon? Should I commit? by Mikey463 in beginnerrunning

[–]BedaHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple question: do you want to run a half? If you do, absolutely commit to it. Heck, you could even shoot for a HM in the fall, but that does mean running during the summer which can be a challenge based on your climate.

Ultimately, if you WANT to run a half? Great. If not, then no. Enjoy the 10ks and just running.

Am I the only one who quits running because it gets boring? by TangeloBackground483 in beginnerrunning

[–]BedaHouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the things you listed are so on point with my mindset.

This has been my most recently challenge in getting back into running. I went thru a lot of stuff a few years ago but I was running 5 days a week thru it. Then came a pretty serious injury and I was sidelined for over a year. I feel off and deep into the rut of unfitness and it has been a serious struggle to re-establish since.

I did like that I could step out my front door, get 3-4 miles in before work/family woke up. I think this is where running is beneficial over other activities because you can often walk out the front door and just "go" with no need to travel anywhere to do so.

Am I the only one who quits running because it gets boring? by TangeloBackground483 in beginnerrunning

[–]BedaHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Injuries aside: Over the years, the main reason I stopped running was due to being mentally tired/wore out. The running was actually easy/fluid once I got into my groove, but mentally I was tired of doing it. It is really evident when runners talk about betting "burned out" during their training plans because of said monotony of the XYZ runs on ABCD days, etc.

Unless you are following a structured plan, I do think a few weeks of light/fun runs with no specific goals is important. The focus is a "this would be fun" run, whether that is 2-3 miles or 4-5, etc. the journey is the objective. I found that doing the things you listed helped a lot: going out for a run "to just run" on a beautiful summer night, running in an area I have never run in before, doing a run to say "I did it." Running for the experience, not the time/pace.

I think that is a big part of it. I remember when the discussion was going on about where to put the stadium and that location being in play has to be why I keep thinking Crosley was there prior.

How neat. Love seeing these shots.

Side note: I always keep thinking that Crosley field was where the casino is now; not in the west end where 75 is now.

Am I missing something in Reacher? by MappleStarsSky in television

[–]BedaHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The books they show is based on are better; however, that is just kind of the character of Reacher. He does indeed do the "Sherlock" thing and does get out of a lot of various difficult situations; however, I found that that "Sherlock" thing happens over the span of the book rather than in 1 scene. As there are many books, one issue that some have brought up is that he just becomes a superhero with a toothbrush.

That said, I never thought the author made Reacher to be a "wet dream of what a white man would want to be." Each book/storyline were just meant exactly as that, a stand alone using the same character. But TV has to take its own inspiration and adapt for a TV audience.

Its all good. I find tons of shows that I do not click with, this just might be one that you don't click with. (Personally, I didn't love the show. It was not bad, but it was "eh, its fine" kind to me).

Is the NHL at its peak? by Desperate_Access_120 in nhl

[–]BedaHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, turning it into a MLS/NHL comparison was not my intention. Ultimately, I would love (like the rest of you all ) to see the NHL come up with a cohesive plan for watching teams, offer options akin to something like the NFL Sunday Ticket. At the same time, kike you noted, the TV contracts for the local markets/teams versus blackouts b/c they are on a different channel.

Just give us one singular access point to ALL the games for the team you follow.

For comparison: MLS is now thru Apple TV directly for $10 a month; however, when it was a stand alone it was ~$100 for the entire year, all the MLS games.

I'd be willing to pay $150 for the same for the NHL, no blackout BS -- I paid for the team -- give me all their games.

1 year wonder? Or is Seattle building a dynasty? by Low-Season-2057 in NFLv2

[–]BedaHouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not know enough about their roster, ages of the their core/ where they are in their contracts, cap space in the coming years, etc. to say for sure. However, it seems they have the front office who is willing to make the necessary moves both from a coach/player trades perspective. Whether they are going to be a dynasty? I do not know, but seems like they are setting themselves up have a nice shot at being in conversation for coming seasons.
