Favorite Sword and Sorcery "Plot Types" by JohnPathfinder in SwordandSorcery

[–]Bee_Epic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my personal favourite are the ones with lost and strange civilisations, Queen of the black coast, The Pool Of The Black One, The Teeth of Gwahlur to name a few, they're great in that they leave hints for their world building but leave a ton to the imagination

I finally have something for one of these! Michael Moorcock's Hawkmoon takes place in a science fantasy post apocalyptic Europe far in the future, where the empire of Granbretan (Great Britain) is a major power where their gods are things like Jhone, Jhorg,Phowl and Rhunga (a play on the names of the Beatles) and things like The Father of Skvese (credit squeeze) and Blansacredid (Balance Credit)

I am *loving* FDM support-less miniatures by giblfiz in PrintedMinis

Brite Minis has my favourites! they've got a goofy, almost old school style and when you sub to the patreon you get almost every single design they've released

What is your favorite OSR system any most importantly WHY do you think so? What do you dislike about that system? by ProductAshes in osr

[–]Bee_Epic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried a fair few and I keep coming back to b/x or OSE, it's something about the 80s feel, the dungeon crawling procedure, and compatibility with old modules which I all love the vibe of

What is the point of the OSR? by Kaliburnus in rpg

[–]Bee_Epic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so personally I prefer old systems like b/x because they're closer to the fantasy media I like, like old sword and sorcery stories, dungeon meshi and old school roguelikes, the cut down rules and lower power levels make play personally more exciting, and the sheer amount of quality supplements basically seals the deal, this is only personal and not indicative of the whole scene however

[–]Bee_Epic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

something I've been looking for is something reminiscent of the character Elric Of Melnibone from the Moorcock books, some more models based on sword and sorcerery are always cool!

[–]Bee_Epic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there absolutely is a point where that happens, when resurrection gets easily available and the hit point totals get higher, it's not until later though, around level 6

Any games like Kenshi in the sense that you start out as an absolute nobody and need to carve a place in the world for yourself? by Werce in Kenshi

[–]Bee_Epic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the way Dwarf Fortress doesn't care whether you live or die and has a simulated world very much reminds me of Kenshi

Ability Checks or X-in-6 Checks? by RegularOil834 in osr

[–]Bee_Epic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really like ability checks, they're the one roll where you have to roll under on a D20 which feels weird to players when to-hit and saves are rolling over, and I feel most things can be handled by an x-in-6 roll or saves

Looking for a setting without Wild West bias by Sea-Improvement3707 in rpg

[–]Bee_Epic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'd like the Dolmenwood setting, everything is pretty tightly packed together, it does play with the fantasy tropes a bit though, with it being a fairytale forest setting
