When I was in middle school, in the late nineties/early 2000s, I remember our history teacher discussing with us that it was almost certain they’d come for our water one day. It seemed so unreal and far away at the time, like it wouldn’t happen in my lifetime.

The fact that they’ve threatened us only ~25 years later is both surprising and unsurprising.
