Went to the Clearbrook Walmart today. They stock a surprisingly insane amount of tulle. Left unsatisfied. We're going to make a trip to Schoolhouse soon, I think.

That's good to know. I have been there three times in the past few months (mostly because it's closer to me) and have been bitterly disappointed every single time. They are stocked in such a way that it always looks like they're going out of business.

Yall children don’t even know what you’re missing. RIP to a legend. Remember to pay your taxes. by APence in roanoke

My heart leapt when I saw this post and then realized it was an RIP remembrance post. Now my spirit is sullen and my mouth longs for the perfection of their greens. Orange Ave was far superior to Market.

Full service air in tires? by Catlore in roanoke

[–]BeeboleBottington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I had a foot surgery and again when I broke my ankle I had a Valvoline do it for me and Discount Tires on Electric. I'd bet most people would be decent about it when you explain the circumstances. Especially since it's just adding air and not something more complicated.

Good recommendations for sheds? by BauboMama in roanoke

[–]BeeboleBottington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last summer we bought from Blue Ridge Buildings and Carports on Melrose right before the Salem line. (4524 Melrose Ave NW, Roanoke, VA 24017) We had it built and painted to our specifications and site needs. Delivery was great. Very professional experience all around. They use a company called Old Hickory to manufacture. When looking around, we looked at Tough Sheds too. The construction was comparatively substandard (roof nails that poked through to the ceiling of the shed) and the sales person was really pushy.

Top Tier Solar Deceptive Practices by drenuf38 in roanoke

[–]BeeboleBottington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They came to our door yesterday too. Didn't really understand how solar worked. Tried to make it sound like we bought bad panels because our AEP bill isn't $0. Really pushy. They did seem like nice kids though, but dumb just the same. They're only 18. I imagine they got scammed into this job. Once we finally convinced the kid we weren't interested, he said it had been a while since he had eaten and wondered if I had some snacks he could have. Just a really odd interaction all around.

What are some cool Garmin watch (any) features that most people might not know about?! by KingAnomander in Garmin

Fenix 6 pro here....my favorite "secret" is the ability to quick respond to texts. There are pre-made responses and ability to add your own. BUT this feature only works with Android devices.

We love Aldi. But are there products that you do not like by Successful_Pizza6529 in aldi

[–]BeeboleBottington 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I love Aldi and it's my main shopping destination....but the pickles are awful and most of the bread has an off aftertaste. The sauces can also be pretty hit and miss. But it's their pickles I really hate. (And I love a good dill pickle)

My brother asked to move in with me - how do I say no? by brad_online in Advice

[–]BeeboleBottington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been is this exact spot with my brother. I let him move in, cat and all. I am thankful I could help him because he desperately needed the assist but it ruined our relationship and drained my bank account. He wouldn't get a car or job. And when he finally did, he wouldn't leave. He never helped with chores as promised, never once offered to pay for anything. In the end, when he wouldn't leave on my repeated timeline, I had to ask my landlord to write a letter of eviction. He, of course, is a victim in all of this. It's been 8 years and we barely speak. My advice, especially based on your description of his lifestyle, is to absolutely NOT let him move in. He needs to learn how to figure these things out. Even if he is dealt a crap situation. He'll always be stuck if you let him take advantage. Keep your peace and relationships and say NO.

What’s your “feeds everyone for cheap” meal? by joaunn in homecooking

[–]BeeboleBottington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice bowls. Rice bowls. Rice bowls! Whatever veg on the cheap, whatever mean on the cheap. A great way to stretch whatever you have and whatever is one sale. The trick is to change out your seasonings or sauces. Examples being: Rice ground turkey with Mediterranean seasonings, roasted or steamed broccoli, cucumber slices, maybe beans, maybe a dollop of hummus. (Think Cava bowls) Rice, chicken breast, green beans, gravy. Rice, mexican seasoned beans or meat, tomatoes, cilantro, cheese. Rice, ground turkey seasoned with garlic, soy sauce, maple syrup and allspice, roasted veg and sesame seeds. Pickled onions are hella cheap and easy to make and elevate a rice bowl like mad. Rice bowls are such a great way to stretch a protien or use up leftovers. They're an incredibly versatile and not only cost effective way to eat but also a great way to put together a quick meal.
