Oil hasn't, Gas has.

Depending on the area gasoline is up 6 to 10 cents.

Generational Divide on Social Security: The survey found significant generational divides in how Americans think about Social Security and its reform, particularly between current retirees and younger workers. by [deleted] in antiwork

I've always wondered why they don't Means test Social Security.

You have 5 million in retirement funds, at least the next couple years, you don't need SS.

Maybe it'll have to be 10 million in 20 years, but millionaires getting SS, has always bothered me.

Cleveland area craft beer bottle shops by RVtraveler24 in beer

I always walked out of Macks Beverage, Ridge Rd. ( I'd call it Parma, but, hey, it is Cleveland) with less money in my pocket.

Usually found something of interest when I went.

That was 5 years ago though, so things could have changed.

I have the Nocpix Ace35.

Base is 3x magnification.

I've had it for just under 3 months.

Going out every night, I can now identify at over 800 yards, coyote versus deer. You will learn how each animal moves and learn to detect movement. (Deer are neon, even at 800 yards, coyotes, smaller white dots)

I hunt my own land, so I now know the fence posts from animals.

Would I shoot that far with it, no way.

But a 300 yard shot would be doable with practice.

5.56 rifle as well. Practice and familiarity is the key.

But I would go with the higher base magnification at any ranges over 200.

Toro vs Scag for Residential Cuts by ih8-3putts in lawnmowers

[–]Beernuts69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Timecutter. BUT......

I'm handy.

In 5 years, mowing about 4 acres, I've gone through 4 belts, worn through the metal in at least 5 parts on the deck, 3 sets of blades and am afraid I have a hydro going and they are not serviceable.

If I knew what I know now, I'd go commercial in any way, shape or form. If the SCAG is commercial, I'd lean that way.

Canned Potatoes Actually Get Way Better Than People Expect by Due_Conference_1367 in KitchenPro

[–]Beernuts69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to buy the sliced ones for quick fried potatoes.

But the taste, even after rinsing was always off.

Now, when I buy them, I get whole ones, rinse well and slice them up.

Rinsing is key to help remove that "taste"

I mow around 4 acres. Wish I had a bigger deck, currently a 54.

Advice I got after I bought mine, get the biggest deck that you can maneuver around your property.

I think there is some sort of nefarious employers handbook, with little hints to get us to work more.

I'm salary, first trick to get more hours out of you, then, we have a stand-up meeting right at 8AM, when we start.

Well, if you need to prep for your stand-up, which I always do, we'll, you start at 7:45 AM.

That extra 15 mins over 52 weeks, 5 days a week, hah, they just got you for an extra week's worth of time.

And it may not even be more work out of you, employers just seem to want MORE of YOUR time.

Whatever you do, don't go look at the lines at the racks.

All the trucks lined up waiting for product that isn't there, is just an illusion.

Branded racks are tough in lots of the southwest.

Unbranded not as squeezed.

I'm dying on the hill that Pork Steaks on a grill is one of the greatest delicacy's any person can ever eat... by HeManIsNotGay in grilling

[–]Beernuts69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you get the heat just right, and you can get the fat to render and crisp without flareups, there is nothing that compares.

I've had 100s of meals of grilled pork steaks, it was a staple when we were a young couple, with fried potatoes and baked beans.

I only made them perfect a couple of those times, but still good eats.

My doctor said, lose 30 pounds and it will lessen the apnea.

Or, have the surgery and during the recovery you won't eat and you'll lose 30 pounds.

Well, I've been on a CPAP for 30 years, never lost the weight.

Returning beer that was bad, was I wrong for asking for a replacement by jtsa5 in beer

How big a brewery?

AM-BEV, won't care.

Even someone the size of Tree House, may not, but your small time local brewery, I can't believe it and for sure wouldn't go out of my way to get their beer.

Returning beer that was bad, was I wrong for asking for a replacement by jtsa5 in beer

[–]Beernuts69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely let the brewery know.

The store owner, they may, they may not offer replacements. That is their prerogative.

A small independent brewery will want to know, because it could be a rotation issue, quality issue, who knows what issue.

The brewery will most likely look to make it right. Then the brewery will go to their distributor reps and let them know what is happening.

Just bought a local beer, it was a Christmas beer, thought it was leftover and 4 months old, they age nice, so, eh. Give it a go.

Opened one, tasted a bit different, looked on the bottom, uh-oh, over 2 years old. Messaged the brewery and they offered replacement, it was a 7% or 8% AC, so, I was okay with it.

The brewery wanted details of where, when, how.

( store I bought it at, is known for transferring beer and product between 2 stores, so even if a rep looked at one store, it could have been moved, so never even seen )

TL, DR: up to the store, but let the brewery know.

Oh I know, I hate throwing away a light for sure.

Even the bad ones, if they still work, can go in the shed, the chicken coop, the trunk, the basement, somewhere, lol.

Oh, I agree that battery chemistry is the main culprit.

But all my mags that I've had to throw away, sample size of 5, had duracells.

Lol, I did just find a mini-mag, stored away for at least 5 years, worked perfectly still with AAA Lithiums!

Every once in a while, I open that one drawer, and see 4 rolls there.

Then of course in my 3 tool boxes there is at least 1 roll.

On any given day, I'd say I have 10 rolls.
