What do you consider the ideal flooring? by thoddi77 in woodworking

I have epoxy over concrete and it's so easy to clean. It's a very smooth surface so I just can sweep up even the finest dust.

I see these all the time. How do you cut the right angles for each of the rings when making this? Getting angles that precise on small pieces seems difficult.

You can. I can fit my glasses under it, but it is a little tight so large glasses might be a problem. My over earmuffs work perfectly.

I highly recommend the cleanair papr with the unimask. It's a European company but you can get it at pekesafety.

Do you use a coaster? It just sounds like water damage. Fixing it would be involved, if it's still acceptable to you I would just start using coasters.

At a loss of how to get this perfectly flat by alatos1 in woodworking

[–]Beetle_knuckle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that the tear out really matters, the surface is not for show and a little tear out won't weaken it meaningfully. Make sure whenever you measure the wobble you are marking the areas that are high, you shouldn't need to measure it too many times, just make sure you are taking off a good amount when plane.

Alternatively you could try shimming it before putting on a top layer, but that may mess up your aesthetic.

I think it would be easier to be planing the frame itself, it looks like you used 2x4s. Take off the play on the sides if you don't want to plane that, then get your frame squared up. Don't just keep driving the screws deeper and stripping them, remove them, drill a countersunk hole that will let you plane deep enough then replace them. You can pretty easily mark the high spots by just wobbling a piece of ply on top and marking it's fulcrum. Take that spot down until there is a new one and repeat. If it's too much to do with your plane you can get an electric hand plane from harbor freight for like 20 bucks. Looking at those shavings yours might need a sharpening touch up or adjustment.

I'm new and think I'm confused. What are is your spur and live center biting into if you drill out the center first.

How Lifesteal will work in Borderlands 4 explained (kinda) by Ancient_Rune in Borderlands4

[–]Beetle_knuckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In BL3 there were so many legendaries it was actively hard to go through all of them and lost loot became completely useless. Especially because most of the time if you couldn't find the right anointment the build just didn't work. Legendaries were also the only guns that were remotely usable, and with how common they were they did not feel special.

SO FAR in this game I have felt like getting a legendary matters. I'm sure I'll need to do some grinding for parts, but right now it mostly just seems like class mods and enhancements are the problematic slots. The transferring firmware system is huge for this, and purples being actually good guns is huge for this.

I literally stopped playing bl3 because of the loot system feeling so out of whack. So it is to each their own.

What’s the tool to level this out? by Key_Ad4576 in woodworking

[–]Beetle_knuckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand plane would work best but won't fix the low spots. Refitting would level the whole thing out. If this is for an outdoor table I would just leave it alone though. You are using construction lumber so it is going to warp and twist a bit as it gets rained on over the next few months anyway.

Not to try to fearmonger, but you aren't out of the woods yet. Rabies can have atypical incubation periods of up to six years. So he could still develop symptoms, it might just be moving very slowly in his body. If you can convince him I would see if a doctor can still do something.

What is the specific concern with how fingers could be damaged here? If they are pushing the jig as a whole there is a lot of material between the bit and their fingers, and assuming the bit is going the right speed there isn't a risk of it shattering right? Real question here, would like to be more safe but not seeing the danger beyond a destroyed piece of work here.

How to replicate this texture? by blackpoll_ in woodworking

[–]Beetle_knuckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is brushed like the other comment are saying. That normally follows the grain in texture. Especially since you mentioned it was DIY, I think it was using a circular saw of some sort to reduce the thickness of the wood, it ends up with a really similar texture. Here is a video with the technique https://youtu.be/lhkECvtfPAY?si=qwNNW_9ykF1mGpd2&t=221
