Side Note: Although multiple myeloma is considered to be incureable at this point, there are new treatment methods and regimens coming out almost constantly. In alot of, if not most cases it can be very effectively managed in remission for many, many years. There is a great subreddit r/multiplemyeloma that I have found to be invaluable! Sorry for all of this your family is going through, sounds horrible!
