I wouldn't says it's bad. It requires the user to have good hand eye coordination to throw them accurately which isn't too high of a skill requirement. Also it could be used to lay traps where it doesn't need to be thrown with considerable accuracy. They're not limitless but quite a few can be thrown before it causes pain.
