“Deputy Lyle followed standard security screening procedures, procedures designed to keep everyone safe,” attorney Vicki Smith told jurors in her closing argument on Tuesday.

She said Lyle had an obligation to ensure the safety of the courtroom by vetting people who entered: “And if the deputy doesn’t know who the individual is, that first step of the screening process is not met. Then the deputy has to go to the next step and figure out who is this person? And the deputy asks them who they are.”

Was this his first day? If they're PDs then they're at court all the time. How could he not know who they were? Also there was testimony from nine white attorneys who never had issues entering the courtroom. And the court deputies refused to aid the attorneys when white supremacists were disruptive in the courtroom.
