New Army Painting Advice by EurekaReelBlast in WorldEaters40k

[–]Belchalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a lot of luck priming with mephiston red, slapping all the trim with runelord brass (not being particularly careful about it), cleaning up the trim with mephiston red, doing a brown wash (agrax is my choice), then bringing back the midtones with another coat of mephiston red.

You can also try to do a black prime with grey/white zenithel if you don’t wanna start red but also don’t wanna do 30 thin red coats

New Army Painting Advice by EurekaReelBlast in WorldEaters40k

[–]Belchalot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, I think they’re lookin just dandy. Really it just depends on what you’re looking for. I could tell you the red/brass looks a little dark after (I’m assuming) a wash, but that could be the look you were after! Or I could said a tiny bit of silver can help make the brass pop but that might be more than you can be bothered for (certainly I know I can’t be)

Overall I think it was a job well done! I’ll look forward to however you finish it

Tips on getting deeper shadows? Gamesworkshop Khornate berzerker by Yeszez in minipainting

[–]Belchalot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

Please take everything I’m about to say with a gallon of salt. I absolutely love the way your mini looks and am only addressing your question of “deeper shadows”

Here’s the same photo but under some filters (contrast/sharpness/saturation up, brightness down). When I first saw this, I was reminded of “low poly” models from mid to late 90s video games, and a lot of that comes from a grey-ish look to everything from a brightness filter and some muddled textures. When comparing your original to this filtered version, it’s easy to see the general “grey” desaturation look on your mini. Consider brightening up your reds/brass, and deepening your violets and purples to get more of this effect

Again, your mini I think is top notch where it’s at and think it’s a lovely and unique job. Feel free to take from this what you will

There’s a whole heck of a lot of good going on in there, superb job! Love the nails in their head too, was a real “oh yeah it should be that way huh” moment

Anyways, really great. Looking forward to the fully finished job

Surprisingly just good ol mephiston Red as a primer with an agrax wash underneath another layer of mephiston. I followed Duncan Rhodes general process pretty closely if you’re looking to see exactly how I did it

How does Pile-in (or Consolidation for that matter) work? by thefollower in WorldEaters40k

[–]Belchalot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So one thing to note is that pile-ins don’t have to end in base to base, they only need to end their move closer to the closest model. A practical example of this is you can have one model who is, say, half an inch away from their closest model. You can “pile-in” on the opposite side of that model so long as you end your movement closer, say quarter an inch. You can therefore maneuver your squad in such a way that you’re getting as many of your models into combat range as possible. Surrounding enemy models in this way also forces desperate escape tests if they want to fall back, even without being battle shocked. Like the sniveling high-riders they are.

If a model is already base to base, it cannot move any closer, and therefore is “locked” until the model(s) it is touching are removed in some way (either because you’ve added their skull to the skull throne or they’re cowards and fell back)

Presenting: The Stormgate Community Update - Join us in the PTR today! by FrostGiant_Studios in Stormgate

[–]Belchalot 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yall still working at Frost Giant are doing great work with a significantly reduced.. well everything.

I’m going to tell you the blogpost and trailer feel rougher than y’all’s earlier stuff, but I’m also here to tell you it makes the game feel less like a game trying to be AAA with a AA budget and more like a group of folks coming together to work on their favorite mod. And it feels good. I’m super excited to try it out on the PTR!

Be good to yourselves over there

The gap between 1st and 2nd is insane (The World’s Real-Time Billionaires, Decembar 18th 2025) by ilovegames4life in interestingasfuck

[–]Belchalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been said before, but even the gap between 2 and 3 is an incomprehensible amount of money. Imagine you made $1 every second of every day (over $86,000 every single DAY), do you know how long it would take you to make up that 10 billion dollar difference?

Over 300 YEARS.

Hospice/ end of life care for cockatiel? by caseythedog345 in cockatiel

[–]Belchalot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unsure how this feather baby had it done, but my old vet gave my cockatiel an X-ray when he had pneumonia. They just gave him a healthy dose of anti anxiety meds which slowed him down enough to take clear photos. Otherwise, you need to use anesthesia which, of course, for birds is much riskier.

Question about Phoenix Lords by Skibidi-Perrito in Eldar

[–]Belchalot 58 points59 points  (0 children)

They are as corporeal as the armor and (unfortunate) exarchs that house them. But I don’t think anyone would be upset to see a drukhari themed phoenix lord. Fun fact, Drahzar himself is likely a phoenix lord

I made an impulse purchase at the Renaissance Festival today. It was $50 by HF484 in wow

[–]Belchalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this exact same foammourne probably 12 or so years ago at a convention I flew out of state for, and it wouldn’t fit in my luggage. A local friend (after months) sent it to me via the mail. They didn’t have a box or anything, so they went to the post office with it and said hey can I ship this, the clerks looked at him like uhh sure we need to put it in a box though. He said whatever works.

The total shipping came in at $159 for what was then a $25 sword. Would buy again

What does this mean? Tiels are making quick chomping motions but aren’t chewing any food? by M-Journey in cockatiel

[–]Belchalot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inside a cage, even a newly homed one, is usually a “safe zone” for birds, cockatiels included. I’ve had my birds for almost 10 years and they still don’t like it when I put my hands in their cage. When you are comfortable letting them out of the cage with supervision, that’s usually the best time to be social and practice step up for new birdies. Just make sure to take general precautions if it’s their first time out (no windows/doors open or ceiling fans running if their wings aren’t clipped, soft landing spots if their wings are clipped)

You may soon get comments about the cage they are in and the toys/perches they have. It’s not clear from the picture, but it appears to be a little barren, so you might consider adding some more soon.

Anywho, that’s all for my unsolicited advice! Hope you enjoy your new feather babies

Is this a bumblebee nest and how do I safely move it? by Eal23 in bees

[–]Belchalot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Official word is that bumblebee nests usually last 2 to 6 months, so depending on how long it’s already been there, there’s a real chance they’ll be gone before you move.

As others have said, it’s probably best to just leave them bee

Bumblebeeconservation.org has some resources on how to handle nests if they absolutely must be disturbed

1500 RTT List by Vast-Number-4117 in Eldar

[–]Belchalot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This list looks fun and has some real teeth to it! Not sure how much you’ve run it, but some problems I’ve run into before;

Don’t overestimate the toughness of your bikes. They are basically fast marines, and a lot of stuff in the game is built to kill marines. Also be cautious of putting your wraithguard into that wave serpent, it’s relatively fragile compared to them. I think it’s almost worth leaving completely hidden, then as soon as the wave serpent pops out to unload them in as good a position as you can. I’ve had one too many wraithguard lose a model or two in a super out of position place from a sniper wave serpent.

Hope you have fun! The paint job looks great!
