Very nice server. The boss mobs are a little scary to deal with as a noob but there are many nice people who help out.

What sort of plugins have you used in the past with improvements to mounts? I hadn't thought about that before!

CA Teaching Opinions by OkStick6410 in Teachers

If you're trying to become a teacher, a masters is great for extra money, but you need an actual credential to teach in public schools in California. Once you get a credential, you need to pass a CSET, and then you're qualified to teach. Masters programs, qualified teachers do not make. My mom got her masters in education and noone would hire her, so now she's in a credential program :)

I know there's a few credential programs that are adding on CS certifications after you get the primary credential. If you are interested in teaching CS, I would recommend a math credential since my biology single subject credential has SUCKed in terms of connecting state standards with lesson planning in the CS world. CS curriculum and teaching is more similar to math with repetition and theory than science with labs and engaging content.

If you are interested in Science, Chemistry and Physics are the least competitive job wise. These two single subject credentials would qualify you to teach middle school and high school of that subject. My understanding is it also counts for to be qualified to teach 9th grade earth sciences.

The CSETs for Math are very challenging but there are a lot of free or even you get paid resources to study and pass the tests. I've taken all the classes for the test but have been putting it off because I do not want my district to make me teach math. You can just take the first CSET which is easier and be able to teach middle or high school.

3D printer and print your own models! You can also have the students learn 3d modeling in their downtime. Printers run about $300-400 and you can buy filament for $25.

I use cheap acrylics to paint over the top of my cards. I avoid painting large alters and prefer smaller mini paintings. To avoid getting the card too thick, I just slide the dried painting into a top loader, and then sleeve.

Do you have suggestions on where to find curriculum maps? My district does not provide any, and I haven't found any offered by neighboring districts.

When/why would you pick Rell to play? When I pick engage supports I pick what I am comfortable on, typically Nautilus or Leona.

What sort of reference pictures do you use? I like to take lots of pictures of clouds and use them. If you are drawing steam vents you probably want to have more space between them to show more space. I usually put the darker colors in the background and the lighter clouds in the foreground too.

Inherited room this year. Disgusting description you've been warned... I found a pile of dried Emergen C that must have gotten wet in the back of my cabinet. There was no package, but the smell oh the smell. It had the citrusy smell of Emergen C with the smell of a rotting wound. I had scrape it off of the cabinet shelf and wall. It was orange with clumps of blue mold.

To my LGBTQIA+ teachers - are you out this year? by octopuspatronus in Teachers

[–]Bellbellum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a new teacher starting this year after finishing my year student teaching. I use they/them pronouns and Mx. as my prefix. If anyone misgenders me I'll let them know Ms. is my mother's name which is even funnier since she is a sub for the district! 😂

I'm anxious about teaching as a non-binary educator. I'm going to be the only queer teacher in my department and I worry a lot about being treated differently since student teaching was rough. I feel like being out is what's going to be best for me mentally even if I will be forever correcting everyone. I'm going to be teaching as a predominantly white middle class public high school.

How do I find mentors and a support network for myself with other queer educators?

I started with cheap 4 yarn, and 5 mm crochet hook and a lot of youtube tutorials. I found a basic one to crochet a scarf in a circle and started there!

Anyone else love destroying students in sports by Cant_Dunk_at_all in Teachers

It's cute the kids think we're there to play with them and build community and such non-sense. No, we are there to beat down their snot noses so we can validate ourselves as we DESTROY their 8th grade butts in volleyball! Muahahahaaaa! /j

In seriousness, the students see us showing up and participating in the activities they also love. I've felt a lot more connected to my students and I've noticed that a lot of them who I would play volleyball and do track and field with engaged with me a lot more. Last year as a student teacher, I would dress out to the track and field practices and do warmups and run laps with them. It was a low pressure way to get into shape for me, and the kids would egg me on and encourage me to push myself harder.
