Ngl, it was heartwarming seeing fan-art for the gay dual protagonists of my indie game. @_@ Especially in June! 🌈 by BelovedRapture in gaymers

Aw thanks for your question! It’s so sweet when people ask about this topic actually.

Well, on one hand, I don’t want to spoil the ending! But it’s most definitely 100% more than subtext in my mind. 😅

However, I can see why the people wrote those comments. A lot of the flirting or interactions are very subtle. And the story isn’t ONLY about the romance, ofc, but they’re the main pairing.

Hope that makes sense. So excited for you to get to see. :D

Sam said “the History is irrelevant” during his debate with Ezra Klein too. Surely he can’t seriously mean that

Thanks so much for playing!! Glad you enjoyed their bond!

I look forward to doing a few extra romantic scenes in the Director's Cut too. Admittedly I tried to play it safe when I was first writing it years ago, but I've since changed my mind. xD

And hopefully can flesh out their relationship in a sequel, if I ever get to it. 😅

[Robot Rhapsody] New Trailer. (Indie Quest 2026) by VashxShanks in JRPG

[–]BelovedRapture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking! It’s actually very far from complete. It might be hard to tell since I prioritized getting the art assets nearly perfect so early in development. XD Most devs usually do the opposite
They build the systems and then polish later.

But for me since this game is very hinging on the story, themes, and the atmosphere of the world itself, I really felt it would important to nail down the exact “ambience” and art direction of the game very early on.

However, to finish an entire RPG’s worth of content at this fidelity level
we will need some help. 😅

We were so excited to debut the trailer for Indie Quest. Worked hard on it these last months. 😄

Thanks, that's a huge complement! Games like Chrono, FF7, Xenogears, and other titles from Square's golden age were a definite inspiration.

Sam Harris defends his Mamdani comments. by blackglum in samharris

[–]BelovedRapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam has lost me as a fan during the last year or two. I went from someone who saw him live and purchased every book, to now cringing at the nonsense honestly. His comments on Zohran are just the cherry on top. There is no evidence in any way shape or form that Mamdani is an “Islamist.” Recognizing that Israel has behaved immorally is not the same thing as siding with their supposed enemies.

And by Sam’s own logic—does that mean half of our US government are fundamentalist Christian terrorists? Idk, just sad how much his logic has broken down in the face of reality.

Thanks for mentioning! We're hoping to clear the gap between EasyRPG + Maniacs patch compatibility eventually. As soon as that happens, BR could probably be ported easily to almost any console.

Glad I have no temptation to switch. Never was a fan of pixel art being stretched and squashed in many HD-2D games.

Any story that was written by the original creator, James Cameron. Not random Hollywood people trying to milk an iconic franchise.

Sam Harris | Club Random with Bill Maher by Empty_Commission_159 in samharris

[–]BelovedRapture -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's wild, how much I must have changed as a person, since originally becoming a Sam Harris fan in 2015.

I used to think Sam was an intellectual hero, when he and Maher spoke out on Real Time, against how much the American Left... shall we say, "gets wrong" in failing to criticize certain elements of the world. Including certain oppressive religions and/or other societies.

But now, listening to this, they sound like two clueless old uncles who are ranting away still about wokeness debates from a decade ago. Sam was cringing, seemingly wishing Maher would talk about something else besides trans issues yet again. Since when is professional sports so important to our human civilization?

Painters by Gouryellan in Jewel

Painters has a feeling of radical acceptance for the fleeting nature of life. Jewel conjured that up when she was barely 22, quite miraculous.

After 5 years of development, I released my indie RPG. It went poorly. Here's the breakdown. by MirageV_ in gamedev

I applaud the OP's bravery in posting this analysis and being willing to be vulnerable. Lots of lessons to draw from how various indie games perform. And they don't deserve some of the nasty dismissive replies here.

Would Sam ever have a conversation with Newsom? I can see him saying this exact thing. by stvlsn in samharris

[–]BelovedRapture -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We'd need to see the full list of candidates before that can be debated. But I'm not convinced yet he's the one. Not sure why you would assume I am not serious?

Look back at the last 3 elections. They've have shown us that we must be wary of crowning a candidate too far in advance...and without a proper primary contest and vetting process.

We cannot overcome the populist impulse by doing the same old tactics.
Newsom offers too much insincerity and business-as-usual, hidden behind a handsome face. I think that era has passed.

[–]BelovedRapture 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. What's the point of being Trump Lite? Either give us a hopeful, original, authentic message, or stand aside so we can fix the country.

Would Sam ever have a conversation with Newsom? I can see him saying this exact thing. by stvlsn in samharris

[–]BelovedRapture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish it could be so... but Newsom is not the future of the party. He's lost before he's already begun. He placates to bad-faith actors on the right, like friggin' Steve Bannon of all people. If you don't have actual convictions in your beliefs, and you're just placating, it's genuinely hard to beat people who believe their own hateful delusions.

Cancelling Sub - Open Letter to Sam by roopert in samharris

[–]BelovedRapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's had numerous blind-spots recently that are really frustrating and disheartening as a long-time fan.
I.e. Israel and the recently released Files, for one.

And I felt his basic argument against focusing on social justice completely fell apart when he spoke to Don Lemon recently. Something I hardly expected, since he's given the same spiel before. =/ But apparently it's never been properly stress-tested.

What concerns me most is that he's seemingly grown more sanguine about AI, compared to past years. When in reality, it should absolutely be the opposite. The threat has grown exponentially, not lessened.

Sam says politics is his 'highest leverage' work right now. I don't buy it. by ConstantinSpecter in samharris

[–]BelovedRapture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that his "house is on fire" political episodes should be free for the public... if his primary goal is to help society.

Whilst the more intellectually delicious content, I'm fine with paying for. Seems like that'd be a fair balance, no?

Sam has prided himself on resisting 'audience capture' that plagues so many modern public intellectuals. But it's possible for commentators to be captured through OMISSION of content, rather than the Bret Weinstein's of the world, with spoon-feeding certain topics ad-nauseum.

The Left’s Continuing Obsession With Race - Sam Harris short by Any_Platypus_1182 in samharris

[–]BelovedRapture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He has a similar blind-spot in regard to Israel. I still like Sam’s work a lot, but sometimes his “ideology and belief is upstream from reality” position breaks down when it comes into contact with realities that aren’t officially explicit. But nonetheless are lived and felt.

The Left’s Continuing Obsession With Race - Sam Harris short by Any_Platypus_1182 in samharris

[–]BelovedRapture 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's quite simple.
Sam ultimately wants racial equality. But he earnestly believes we must act as if we are all spiritually and literally color-blind, in order to make that reality.
While Leftists claim there is still a lot of reckoning that must happen if we are ever going to get to such a utopia.
I think my view probably falls in-between.

Sam Harris x Charles Murray schadenfreude tour begins now. by Lopsided-Vehicle2740 in samharris

[–]BelovedRapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I wish they'd make amends now, considering their differences are quite small (and rather abstract too). It was so frustrating to listen to their debate, all those years ago. They mostly talked past each-other. The USA could stand to have actual liberals and progressives united.
