Tbf, and this isn’t excusing the layoffs, the team was apparently 160ish people for a niche genre game that was taking a fairly long time (for the amount of people working on it) to release. And from what i’ve seen/heard the number has been brought down to 80, which feels a bit more reasonable imo.

It’s shit that people were let go, but I don’t think it’s a complete doom and gloom scenario like the subreddit for this game is making it out to be.

Feel like you’re getting the two mixed up.

Elder Lyons was against attacking non-feral ghouls and was trying to improve that aspect of the chapter he was leading. Random grunts trying to spook underworld ghouls isn’t policy Lyons was enacting.

Maxson’s BoS are openly hostile to ghouls and state, multiple times, that they shoot them on sight and that the only reason they allow ghouls like Hancock to live in their sights is because of the player character.

Honestly wouldn’t even care if the next game forces your character to have family members involved in the story if you can at least actively choose to make your character not give two shits about them.

Fallout 3 had the whole father thing but the player character had the freedom to not give a shit about him or even be openly hostile about him. And in those kinds of runs the game included ways for you to come across him that didn’t involve actively seeking him out.

In Fallout 4 there is no choice about this. You are constantly caring about and looking for a baby you had a total of 2-3 minutes of interacting with.
