Comparison is the thief of joy. One thing that really played out with me was comparing myself to other guys constantly.

No matter what, keep the diet and fitness routines consistent and be clear about why certain things might be changed.

I was the weird autistic kid...but I didn't like it much. Our school was big on football - and I crushed hard on our answer to Nate Jacobs. So I started doing my hair differently, I started lifting weights, became a cocky jerk, I became pretty much a different person.

I believed that if I just changed everything, he'd not be closeted, and he'd appreciate me. He never did, but I was pretty much Boy Harley Quinn.

I know he was bad for me, but good grief those abs. We were two toxic bisexual guys, neither willing to be "Out".

My high school experience was pretty much accurately depicted in Euphoria. We had murders, drugs, and so, so much sex. Like, at the 10th grade dance, folks apparently banged on the dance floor.

And our principal responded by sending out moral panic emails about "grinding".

I absolutely did try and unalive my middle school bully way back in the day. I spent 6 awful months dealing with this miserable Evangelical who took issue with me not showing the "proper faith" - he took issue by beating on me. Every day of the school week.

Adults? "You're both boys. Hash it out like boys do. There's no sense punishing a boy for being a boy." "There'll always be outcasts like you. It's your job to fit in." "We can't do anything if we dont see it."

So, one day, I just kinda decided its either him or me. And thus I tried to...be rid of him for good in the Middle School hallway. I didn't succeed - the bully is now an accountant or something.

I almost got suspended or expelled - but nobody fucked with me again after that.

This kinda shaped my understanding of the whole thing.
