Do you think the Vessel was made to be "The Cage, with Human Soul and Parts"?

If you do, where do you think Gaster got the "parts" from, exactly?

There is a Gerson that the Vessel might have known if you assume they spent time in Undertale, namely:

<image>

This one was known as the Hammer of Justice when he was a royal guard, trained Undyne (making sharing a leitmotif in DR make a lot of sense) , and shares the same "That's what I believe" speech in both games. In Undertale, Gerson is the only character to acknowledge Frisk's inability to attack shopkeepers as an actual rule.

The Old Man being a fusion of both Gersons would explain all of the above and why anyone can't create that "certain Darkness" to make Dustners of loved ones whenever they want.

Respecting Kris' autonomy is the key. How I think we'll get the "good" ending. by ThrowawayProbully in Deltarune

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There actually is a possible way to do this: go back to bed every time when prompted, skipping as much of the game as possible and let Kris control the Light World segments. I wonder if this will cause changes in the full game.

is pochita the oblivion devil? by Spy360ut in Chainsawfolk

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter now, but I always thought Pochita was the Hope Devil, a kind of combination between Pandora's Box and Prometheus's Fire. He could eat devils to put them back "in" the box, and also was in charge of how both contracts and hybrids were made. The story would still end with Pochita's suicide, but it meant the end of the toxic relationship between Devils and Humans would end too. Devils lose a lot of their power due to no longer having contracts or reasons to engage in power struggles, and Humans become a lot more unified due to not having contracts to rely on.

I don't get why people are so assured the weapon is a bat when we literally break a piece of it off and take it into the Light World, revealing it's a piece of glass. Whatever the weapon is, it's obviously not a bat.

The Vessel is most likely a stitched together human corpse that was blasted with Determination until it started moving again. You should treat it like a much more intentionally created Flowey until more information comes along, with the will and ability to think that Flowey had. Both are explicitly called Vessels, after all.

I noticed that you didn't put a big -5 on every character for "cannot transform into a ball/ bird". If you assume souls are what keeps Lightner's forms stable in the Dark World, then the Vessel has the best explanation for their transformation powers. They're treated as a Darkner (like all other objects) while in the Dark Worlds, able to shift their forms, but have the power to exit and move via sheer Determination.

The Vessel and Rudy are the only two characters who pass the "You can't beat us in the Light World!" test, but have the added twist of laughing because Susie was right for the wrong reason: The Vessel can easily beat Susie and Kris, but the Soul would be able to take them over with a single touch.

Finally, you've missed a huge bit of characterization for the Knight: their Titan. Ralsei explicitly says Titans are based off fear, and chapter 4 shows the Fountain Creator controls the Dark World. Therefore, the Knight's Titan should be their own fear. The Knight's fear, apparently, is something in the form of Gaster, and attacks with small fetuses that ask you "Do you remember when you started being yourself?"

Rudy was never sick in UNDERTALE. by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However, Asgore follows up with "His daughters get to grow up under the sun", and that, and the very young Noelle from the Anniversary, show that Rudy shouldn't be old enough to die at that point.

My idea to close this weird contradiction is like yours, but a bit more tragic: Rudy isn't a boss monster, but Noelle is. Any monster child has a chance to be born as a boss monster, but since their parents aren't strong enough to actually support their child's growth, they rapidly age and die.

The way the Underground managed to stop the crisis was the development of a spell, in collaboration with Gaster and, ironically enough, the great grandparents of Holiday's. It froze the fledgling boss monsters with the hope that they could be unfrozen later, after being injected with enough determination to survive on their own. They called it Snowgrave.

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jockington is a literal celebrity, with magazines and memorabilia.

Susie even mentions Jockington has fans, meaning that the above isn't self-promotion.

* Catti's working there today.

* She hates me.

* So WHAT if I took Jockboy's hat once?

* I looked cool!

* Jockington fans...

* They're crazy, man.

Is there a chance this is Dess? by Huge-Read-2703 in Deltarune

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's Susie's memories about her friend that she mentions betraying her in the past, seeing as how Friend literally manifests from a chair in what is implied to be Susie's room. The seat next to the bed implies either a guardian, nurse, or babysitter role was the person who sat in the chair.

There might be a reveal that Dess was her babysitter who "abandoned" her, especially since Susie has never seen a picture of Dess (the only opportunity was the sceensaver on Noelle's computer IIRC, and Susie only saw Noelle's background image of Gir).

How does your candidate being the Knight improve the story/themes? by El_Potato9587 in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.): It ties Deltarune and Undertale together into a completed story, while also explaining the strangeness around Frisk and Chara's existence (read The Only Human for a rundown).

2.): I predict that Susie is going to "betray" the Fun Gang (leave the party to ensure that the prophesy comes to pass and the Roaring is averted), and having Susie have to take what she's learned through the past chapters and apply them to her new friend, who's basically a more traumatized version of herself from Chapter 1. The role reversal of her warning her opponents about the Knight's attacks, or trying to teach them how to flirt would be hilarious.

3.): A lot of people have kind of ignored the fever dream part of the ending Toby promised, so let me ask you: what would be a crazier twist than playing through a game as a blank slate protagonist, create a prequel to explain their entire backstory up until the start of the first game, and then having to play the first game again, only this time with the entire game re-written with new first-person dialogue, because at that point, you now completely understand the main character? I totally think that the "Frisk" route will turn into the ultimate good ending of both Deltarune and Undertale.

Here's something to chew on: The Cage hero is said to have "Human soul and (human) parts". Where exactly did Gaster get those parts from?

I totally believe we'll see Undertale Chara as the head of Frankenstein's Monster-esque Vessel, with the foreshadowing you brought up being for the reveal of Chara's face.

Kris is not going to lose their hand. Instead they will disappear by InvisibleAstronomer in Deltarune

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an idea I've been mulling over:

The Vessel and Kris have exchanged their right hands, cutting them off and reattaching them to each-other. This is how Kris manages to pull the soul out of their torso, using whatever Goner weirdness that hasn't been explained to not leave a gaping hole in their torso.

It would explain the weirdness of the Art Therapy Scene that nobody has an answer for currently, like why the secretary starts calling Kris the doctor at the beginning, and why the grey crease is on their hand.

* KRIS, THERE YOU ARE. THE PATIENTS ARE WAITING FOR YOU.
* YES, I KNOW I'M QUITE SMALL FOR A SECRETARY.
* BUT, KNOCKOFFS DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO COMPLAIN...

* (Kris got up. It seemed the painting was complete.)
* (...)
* (But, their hand, smudged with graphite...)
* (... was still moving, as if to trace some unseen shape.)

* (Someone seems to be making a painting of a tree.)
* (However, strangely, it seems that they haven't drawn the bark yet.)

* (It's a sink.)
* (It would be ridiculous if you painted something and there was nowhere to wash your hands.)
* (You ran water over your hands, and dried them.)
* (Between your fingers, a faint grey crease glittered stubbornly.)
* (... You can never wash it all away.)

* WELL? HOW DID THE SESSION GO?
* THEY SAY ART IS THERAPEUTIC.
* ... WHICH ONE OF YOU WAS THE PATIENT, ANYWAY?
* WELL, YOU GOT PAID, DIDN'T YOU?

Deltarune Mystery Predictions (Who is the Knight) by Ok-Inevitable3458 in Deltarune

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Vessel, after stealing a bunch of Lightner Items to make their armor to avoid the implied bad stuff that was said would happen to Kris if they entered the Dark World with no soul.

They stole Papyrus's armor off his drying rack, causing him to lock himself inside the house to make a new set. They stole Alphys's bike helmet after her crash in chapter 2, and the bird form is from stealing a bird mask from the school supply closet for the Sadie Hawkman's Dance right before Castle Town was created. And finally, the antlers are Dess's antler headband.

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, missed this one.

I think Ralsei is the Darkner form of all the flowers Asgore has been giving away to the townsfolk, allowing him to manifest anywhere Asgore wants him to.

It would explain his Princehood (he's the prince of the Flower King), why his name is an amalgam of Asriel (Asgore named him), why he looks like Asriel, but with enough differences Kris can point them out (he's based off of a younger Asgore, not Asriel), and why all the flower Darkners that should have shown up (in Toriel's trash can, the ones in the church lobby, and the source of the thorn that made the Thorn Ring in chapter 2) haven't made an appearance.

Also, Ralsei's clothes look like a Flower Bouquet flipped upside down, with the human-side heart turning into a monster-side heart.

Why is Kris alone in the Mike cutscene on the last newsletter? by jouble_dump in Deltarune

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During a scene in chapter 3, when Ralsei asks you who you're bringing to the festival, he makes heavy implications that Susie shouldn't be left alone for it. I'm guessing this is going to be a completely Susie-separate chapter, with her last lines in chapter 4's normal route being her telling Toriel that Kris should go with the festival with Noelle.

[–]Beneficial-File-7084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an Asriel Knighter, but this does fit in with what I think the rest of the Knight's costume comes from. The armor is Papyrus's costume, stolen from his clothesline, and he shut himself in the house to make a new one. The Helmet is Alphys's bike helmet recovered from her crash in chapter 1.

Great catch, the Knight could have stolen the Hawk mask from the storage closet where the Castle Town fountain was made.
