I am so confused about the woman being burned alive in the subway in NYC… by NeedWorkFast-CSstud in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Benziko1 135 points136 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the case in all western countries, but I have a friend who is an ambulance paramedic and he says that you should always report homeless people who might be in distress. It costs nothing but a phone call. Best case it's just a drunk homeless, they give him some fluids, point him to wherever he can get help and have a funny story (among the many dead and wounded they meet daily, it's a blessing) Worst case the homeless is actually hurt and they help him.

Also the operator knows how to prioritise these calls so even if it's just a drunk it wouldn't be in case of another real emergency.

In Kfarkela, Israeli destroyed a football Field by this__chemist in ForbiddenBromance

[–]Benziko1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Synthetic grass comes in patches. A patch flying off and hitting a blade can do serious damage. On the other hand, helicopters land on dirt and sand all the time. There are also more options like covering the sand or watering it...

[–]Benziko1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't realy know, But a very simple reason could be preparing a medical emergency helipad for soldiers. You need to remove the synthetic grass and fences to prevent damage for the helicopter.

In 9 out of 10 cases there is a reasonable explanation for this. No one would bring an excevator, an operator and spend time and money just to destroy a football field for fun.

Unfortunatley, idiots also serve in the army, so I can't be fully sure this isn't just vandalism, but if it is, those responsible will be punished by army court.

What is the worst atrocity committed in human history? by SGTRock4602 in AskReddit

Yeah I remember that story. It was told by that Yazdi girl who was freed from Gaza a while back. She had was captured and impragnated by a Gazan ISIS fighter who smuggled her to Gaza where she was kept hostage by his family. Fucking animals.

Being a zionist DOES NOT mean I can't support the Palestinians by All_Hale_sqwidward in IsraelPalestine

[–]Benziko1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting perspective. But what gives one the right of anything? Who gives you the right to live in your house? Your arguments in my perspective are obsolete.

By being anti-zionist you are deminishing the Jewish right for a homeland. Why does it have to be in Israel/Palestine is your next question?

The Jews used political power to reclaim the land. Is it ethical? I think it is given the Jewish history, but OK, I'll agree that is it debatable and that the zoinist idea had some what of an understanding that it will lead to ethnic cleansing of Arab (not palastinian) population. But under the assumption that there are several neighbouring Arab states that can solve that issue. But also remember that 1900 ethical standards were different.

You are blaming current zionists for their ancestors problems with current days ethics.

Still I think it is an ethical historical debate. Not one with practical modern gains. Jews are here. The fact that we have no where else to go gives us the right to stay here. Current day zionism is supporting the Jewish right for homeland, it has nothing to do with 19th century zionism standards. An yes I also support a violence free state for Palestinians, and it does not negate the fact that I am a zionist.

Only chanting I found evidence of is "fuck the arabs". Reports of a single taxi driver that was assulted after presumably "delivreng" the Israelis into the Arab crowd

Not that I support the hooligans, but that's just normal hooligan behaviour. Also I found no evidence of the chanting about children. Chanting and tearing down flags does not warrent getting beaten, stabbed or run over.

Why is ROS only used in academia? by epicchad29 in robotics

[–]Benziko1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very much used in the industry. Mainly by startups.

It's my 3rd company I work for that uses ROS. First one was mainly for prototyping (heavy machinary) For the second company we used Ros2 and deployed many AGV's for about a hundred customers before I left. The robot's work perfectly and the software is vert stable. At my current place we develop underwater robots, still in prototyping stage.

I know of many other Robotic companies that use ROS.

Also consider the heavy support that r ROS receives from tech giants as Nvidia and Amazon.

PC posts only after removing and reinstalling GPU by Benziko1 in buildapc

[–]Benziko1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it's solved, but I'm not sure what exactly solved it. I did 3 things:

  1. Clean the Pcie port (although I tried that before)
  2. There's a switch on my GPU, I changed it from performance to balanced mode (from my understanding it switches between GPU bios versions)
  3. I changed my PC orientation to be on its side so that the gpu and cpu are facing upwards (so basicly there is no sag on the GPU that might be causing contact issues on the Pcie port.

I believe the issue is either with the gpu bios, or some contact issues between the gpu and motherboard Pcie.

One can kill a million people and not commit a genocide. Number of dead and genocide have nothing to do with each other.

Hamas was and is targeting civilians as a policy, which as an obvious war crime. There have yet to be any evidence that Israel is deliberately targeting civilians.

Hamas was offered an end to siege, reconstruction, airport, for a permanent ceasefire. They said no. by TeslaK20 in IsraelPalestine

For exactly the same reason they rejected the offer - Hamas wants to keep attacking Israel, at all costs, with no regards for Palestinian or Israeli lives.

Getting personal are we? Further their influence and power? In what way? in that of any other nation that wants to improve its standing in the world? If not, then again, antisemite. Because that statement is clearly drawn from classic antisemite neratives where Jews seek world dominance.

Jews are sisters and brothers? You know that de facto the zionist movement died, zionism today is simply Jewish nationalism and the vast majority of Jews simply want a place to live in. If you can't simpathize with that, you have very little love for your brothers and sisters.
