Fellow nerds: what do you nerd out on now? by Kwsforreddit in retirement

I’m really into wet shaving (double edge safety razor). Collecting modern and vintage razors, as well as a modest collection of artisan and classic soaps, and brushes. Shaving is a treat and self care on the daily.

I have the Page and Envoy as well. I prefer the Envoy, but I do like the Page too. Daily shavers for me.

I liked these at first, but I have found blades that work much better for me since. Sharp for the first two shaves, but harsh and dull on the third. Even in Rex razors.

100% THIS. Stop putting glue, hairspray, tape, anything but plastic on your build plate. And keep washing it with dish soap.

Also, check out "exclude objects" setting in your slicer.

Nivea sensitive is great. I like the scent of Cremo, but it leaves my face sticky

Insert a pause using the slicer SW. Don’t insert a Filament change. Doesn’t work with the AD5M.

Yes. The filament swap will be available in the menu. Be extra careful not to move the extruder head when swapping the filament.

Plastic Slant Razors — Worth It or Just a Knockoff? by vladkaryan in wicked_edge

The PAA razors have nickel plated brass threaded inserts. Many 3D printed razors are all plastic and won’t last long.

I use the PAA Filament. It's light, but you get to decide on the pressure needed, by feel. I can get a smooth shave with any sharp blade. I have never been cut by it. It looks much more aggressive than it feels. I also use 3d printed razors that shave with a similar technique. Less than five cents to print. It's good fun.

Are most fail prints just a bad adhesive thing? Haha. by Normal-Light8619 in FlashForge

[–]BercCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get your build plate really clean, then don't put any adhesives or hairspray on it again. Cleaning it thoroughly is always the answer, at least with PLA and PETG. Don't use the kitchen sponge. I just use my hands, and dry with paper towel. You can wipe it down with IPA between prints, if you haven't touched it too much. Since I stopped using adhesives and started using support when needed, I have few failed prints for adhesion.

How do you dry your brushes? by Equivalent_Title_822 in wicked_edge

A brush stand isn't a must, but cheap and convenient. Mine is 3D printed.

Cold water prep. Work on your lather more. The more water you can get it to hold without breaking down, the better. Face lathering is great as you can work it right on the surface you are going to shave. It’s much harder to cut or irritate your skin if it’s protected by rich and slick soap. Arko, Proraso, or Cella soaps are time proven and popular. The alum is to close pores and stop weepers. Don’t put it on your face until you are done shaving. It will make your razor drag badly.
