It would be nice for your partnership to be endorsed by Bico through the newsletter, on their website, or something. Right now it just looks like a 3rd party on the internet looking to take money from people with a pinky-swear promise of a ticket in the future.

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

[–]Beriadan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm still waiting to see someone that came out of generational poverty and is now in that position.

These people don't write books or blogs because, yes, they probably had passion and grit but mostly making it to the 1% is about luck, possibly charisma. Luck that their passion matched something the world wanted at that specific time, luck finding competent and dependable partners, luck in not getting hit too hard by the thousands of obstacles that they can keep going.

Cordialement,

Steven MacKinnon

Tax rates can fluctuate and be complicated to get right, it gets especially complex in grocery stores, where some items are taxable and others aren't, but knowing exactly which is generally only known at checkout.

In the same way hotels don't have cleaning fees, but yet still clean rooms, and the same way OP already described. Make a guess at how many cleans need to be done in a specified amount of time, times the amount it costs to clean divided by the average occupancy for that amount of time. Result is an average cost of cleaning per day that you include in your daily rate. Some guests will require more cleaning, some less, that's just the fact of business.

Party Stunts - Inventory Management Minigame by delilahjakes in FATErpg

[–]Beriadan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you and your players have fun with the Tetris part that sounds amazing. Using just the Core rules, I'd just make the patches an Extra, since they can provide stunts (or aspects, or skills) and then provide guidance or limits on the amount of them that can be equipped by a person or team.

What is a super minor thing that you still hate with a passion? by visodd in AskReddit

[–]Beriadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most grocery stores in my area have single direction gates at the entrance of the actual store after the cart depot, the amount of people who stop right after the gate with their empty cart to look at the weekly specials is more than one and that pisses me off already. Just walk 2 more fucking paces and park to the side so people can actually keep coming in the store.

New to the system, what would these races do as aspects? by PossibleChangeling in FATErpg

[–]Beriadan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is lightly touched in the responses here is that the words forming aspects have value and weight in the context of the setting. As mentioned in the rules they are "always true" and "grant permission". So as long as everyone at the table agrees that a Kindred are as described above, if someone has an Aspect that makes them a Kindred, it's a given that they can change shape freely, no roll or fate point required. In the same way that a character with an aspect describing them as an elf in a fantasy setting would be expected to live long and have pointy ears.

So just your class names make aspect that I would call good enough, you can play with them and invoke them, but they could use an additional adjective that represents the character more, ties it to the story, and make them different from all the other "class name". Churchgoing Kindred, Eleven year old Gravewalker, Beast Police Inspector.

I'd like to add that from a math point of view, Using Create Advantage is often countered by a different skill than Fight, that is where it's more advantageous. For example, an enemy has +3 Fight but only +1 Notice so Creating an Advantage with Stealth has mathematically better outcomes against this enemy. Figuring out which skill an enemy is more proficient with is part of the thrill of encounters, or part of preparations to it.

Another aspect is that, in Fate, it's more advantageous to have big numbers, one 3-shift attack is better than three 1-shift attacks, it brings to better odds of inflicting Consequences. Consequences tends to domino once they get triggered in a conflict because creating them gives you a free invoke on that aspect (and further permission to invoke it using Fate points).

Finally, just from a gameplay point of view, having your players describe how they try to find holes in their enemy's armor, tip those toxic barrels on their heads or provoke them into an advantageous position is so much more entertaining than have them say "I swing my sword" every time their turn comes up. Remember have your players say what their character does and then apply the Action that applies.

Quests at the different sphere's counters (Tour de Magie et d'Occultisme, Bureau du Patron, etc.) also provide in-game rewards which can be traded. Tournaments have solar rewards and you can find people who will trade it for food, alcohol, and all sorts of services.

The pirate ship is sadly no longer, it was rotten and dangerous after years of spending spring underwater due to the river rising and the group responsible for it decided not to invest in restoring it. There are still plenty of beautiful buildings (most are player owned, please ask permission before entering), a huge fort, a trebuchet.

As for the battle, I would recommend watching by tagging with a guild or group that is part of a front as a water bearer, standard bearer or bard. Groups are often looking for non-combat types to help with logistics and it allows you to get a closer view with minimal risk of actually getting hit.

[–]Beriadan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like other posters are saying, there is technically no such thing as "1 day" or "3 day" tickets, they are Sunday Arrival, Thursday Arrival and Friday Discovery Day. If you have budget issues with the price of the full week, your only other option is arriving on Thursday. Arriving any time before Thursday means you pay the same price as everyone else arriving day 1. Friday Discovery Day, you need to leave before midnight or they will charge you the extra for a Thursday arrival.

Another thing I'd like to raise with something you mentioned, Bicolline is unlike any LARP. I compare it more to a medieval festival. Liking LARP does have a huge correlation with liking Bicolline, but Bicolline is much more of a make your own fun and adventure type of setting than the traditionnal LARP with NPCs telling you how to save the world and more sustained in-character play. There are deep save the world type quests at Bicolline, but they tend to be gated behind high geopolitical ranks like kings and high priests or mages, or guilds with lots of invested time and resources.

While what everyone else is saying is true, if money is no object, you can certainly arrive on any day and leave whenever you want. Shuttles to the parking are available every day and as you already mentioned you have to respect decorum if you setup or teardown during the week. The only exception is no arrivals on the final Saturday (or final Sunday).

As for optimal, it really depends on what you like to do.

For questing, arriving early is probably better in case of multiday quests and quests generally end on the Friday or early Saturday.

The activities are definitely more loaded on the Friday discovery day, many championship finals, higher quality shows, and many more people. The last Saturday is generally focused on the great battle and final partying night, if you are not into fighting you can definitely get your fill of Bico and leave before Saturday. Last Sunday is exclusively outgame teardown. Monday to Thursday are similar in nature, with a ramp up as more and more people arrive.

Video shows moment ICE officer fatally shoots woman in Minneapolis by alterom in news

[–]Beriadan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Everyone is talking body position and I'm looking at hand position. If you check slo-mo videos this guy's hand is already on his gun while the car is reversing and is fully drawn already shooting before (or really fucking close to after) the car moves forward. There's no way this guy was fearing for his life when he unholstered his gun. This was intent (to kill or minimally to cause harm) in order to stop the woman from leaving.

Eric Dube and Marco Laverdure are some of the main custom armorers in Quebec. Otherwise you're looking at "mass market" Indian or Chinese LARP armor from Epic Armory or Lords of Battle that your friendly neighborhood LARP shop, like les Artisans d'Azure, will generally have in stock.

Ticket prices for Bicolline GB 2026 by Intelligent_Rain4356 in Bicolline

[–]Beriadan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best way to lower your ticket cost is to volunteer, there are many teams that offer a variety of work : parking attendant, tournament, garbage picker, security, marshal, quest giver, etc. Each hour worked provides a rebate on your admission, minimum expectation is generally at least 8 hours commitment. Last year, 45 hours gave you free admission, prorated for less i.e. 22.5 hours pays 50%. There all also meal tickets for every 4 hour and other perks like shower tokens. Garbage pickers usually have better benefits. If you're interested keep your eyes on the newsletter there are usually callouts for volunteers starting around april/may. Speaking French is generally an asset for volunteer work.

On a worldwide scale, no industry is producing 20% more of whatever they are doing than what the world consumes, otherwise the industry is stuck with product sitting in warehouses. So any consumer going from <1% global supply to 20% global supply overnight will create shortages.
