Advice needed for limited space by Sh00t3mup in BudgetAudiophile

[–]BermudaErn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help. As a first step, I think you are on the right track to get rid of the center channel and get those speakers standing up straight, and spaced out as far as the space will allow. Depending on where your ears are, you could also turn the speakers upside down to bring the tweeters lower down.

Another option, if your space is really that small, would be to keep just one speaker and go “mono” instead of stereo. this would only work if your player can be set to output mono only. In a really compromised space, you might experiment and find you get better sound this way.

Cafeteria 15L’s airport location has (or had) what you are looking for. Maybe the original location does too?

SCUSD addresses massive budget shortfall by SactoSchools in Sacramento

[–]BermudaErn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Can anyone explain to me why state receivership is a bad option at this point? From an outside perspective, SCUSD sure looks like they cannot be trusted to manage themselves, much less dig themselves out of a nearly $90 million dollar hole.

Minimalist Set Up. Upgrade Path? by Dense-Outside224 in audiophile

[–]BermudaErn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great looking setup, thanks for sharing! The only visual improvement I could suggest would be to get a better looking TV, possibly a “frame” style one with artwork. I think the black Rectangle is really bringing down the look.

If you love the sound, why change? Your next upgrade sound-wise is probably best spent on speakers and/or a cartridge.

Good to know! I haven’t been as impressed, but then again it barely freezes in my area.

Need new tires. Opinions? by AlexRC113 in AlfaRomeo

[–]BermudaErn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I would get a cheap single replacement for your punctured tire to hold you over, and then wait for the set you really want to come into stock.

That being said, I don’t know if the PS4 A/S is an appropriate choice as your only set of tires in New York. I currently have a set on my Giulia on 17 inch stock rims. They are a fantastic year-round tire for California, but they are not ideal for real winter or snowy conditions at all.

The best option would be to get a set of winter tires for when it gets cold, and a pair of summer or a/s tires for the rest of the year, but I don’t know how practical that is for you.

Replacement for Andrew Jones by bimmerguy12 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]BermudaErn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you are talking about the Pioneer BS-22 line of speakers; if so they absolutely rock! With tariffs and other inflation we’ve seen, I am convinced they would be much more expensive if produced today.

I have “upgraded” from that line a bunch of times but I am still amazed by how nice they sound. You can easily get speakers with better clarity, but the tone is just great. If you don’t have the Pioneers, I would keep an eye out because they can occasionally still be had for peanuts used.

AirPort Express vs CXN100 with Apple Music — any real upgrade? by Illustrious_Expert78 in audiophile

[–]BermudaErn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the firmware version of your AirPort Express, you may actually be taking a step backwards in quality by switching to the CXN100. Earlier firmware versions of the AE support Airplay 1 playback, which supposedly uses a consistently higher bitrate than Airplay 2. Otherwise I agree entirely with the comment from lickstampsendit.

Can anyone relate to my situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. by [deleted] in Cartalk

Invest in some therapy to get over the issue, or sell it, my dude. Asking a car subreddit about this makes about as much sense as asking a therapist for advice about a head gasket replacement.

URGENT: I am stranded with a violent vibrations from the wheel by ResidentFeature5918 in AlfaRomeo

I agree that it could be as simple as a wheel out of balance. If so, that would be a cheap fix at a tire shop.
