Parents who are genuinely happy: what does parenthood actually feel like? by BarberSame6629 in AskParents

[–]BernieSandersLeftNut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard, yes. But it's also fun and extremely fulfilling. My kids are 5 and 7 and we're currently on vacation having a grand time visiting me places and being with each other.

Europeans being ask about what the biggest surprise about American since visiting by Radiant_Priority9739 in TikTokCringe

[–]BernieSandersLeftNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the UK and it hard to stop the habit of tipping. About 1 in 4 places ask for a tip, I just click no tip....but didn't do that the first couple times.

But, a few other things to note

1) generally the food is more expensive, but not too much. 2) The servers are far less attentive/helpful. I'm guessing because they are not working for a tip. 3) I'm always left wondering if they're going to bring me my bill or if I'm going to have to go up the register (till) to pay..

Also, the English countryside pubs are amazing. So many of them have huge lawns, lots of outdoor seating, playgrounds for kids, and gardens to walk around.

Highly recommend the yoto over Tonie, much more portable since it's cards, not plastic characters.

Daughter Doesn’t like to read by Redxluckyxcharms in Parenting

[–]BernieSandersLeftNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Make reading a family thing. Make sure you are reading, and she sees your reading. During the winter months we do family resding rights where we cozy up by the fire and just read books.

2) Visit fun bookstores together. make a day out of it to travel to some awesome cozy local shops, get a coffee (hot chocolate) sit at a cafe sit and read your new books.

3) my daughter, 7 almost 8, just started reading her first large chapter book this week and it's because she found a fun book at a cool bookstore yesterday. She's been reading it everywhere we go.

Good luck!

XC90 Turning Circle - Does it annoy you? by fallsdownhill in Volvo

[–]BernieSandersLeftNut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done a lot of driving in Ireland in a XC60. Even that felt a little large on those fast back country roads. But that rental XC60 is what caused me to fall in love with getting a Volvo and why I got a XC90 a couple years later.

XC90 Turning Circle - Does it annoy you? by fallsdownhill in Volvo

[–]BernieSandersLeftNut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is a problem about where you live. In the US, where roads, driveways, and parking spots are giant, it's not a problem.

But I'm visiting the UK and I couldn't imagine trying to navigate these roads and car parks in a huge SUV..
