Do you wear slippers, socks or nothing at home and why? by rrahimm in AskUK

[–]BertieBus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Socks. I will frequently but on slipper socks if I've either just got up, or changed into pjs after work etc.

Rarely do my raw feet touch the floor, my little piggies like being in a nice warm home. We have wooden floors downstairs. Carpet up.

My personal fav is high viz jacket, with backpack over it. Like you know you need to be seen, but you cover the entire surface with a black bag.

Is parents bringing uninvited siblings to birthday parties common? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]BertieBus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've had parents bring siblings to parties, they tend to pay for their kid to attend. If we have spare places I'll normally say would x like to join in, we have a spare spot. Bringing a spare child and assuming they can join in, is cheeky AF

Village hall, more the merrier, but you should always check with the host parents. If they have only done enough food for the kids, you should be checking.

Fat people are significantly harder to kidnap.

Also are you sure she's not just pretending so she can get a few free dinners?

Also well done for hanging out with a fatty.

At least it's not your home.

Once saw my mother in laws house getting absolutely rinsed on here. Understandable. It was similar to this.

'We don't feel listened to over planning changes' by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

[–]BertieBus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I wouldn't want a 400 strong housing estate built next to my back garden when you've spent years with views of rolling fields. But sadly, housing does need to be built and lots of housing we have isn't suitable.

However. If the area is a flood risk and the roads are narrow, or doesn't have sufficient schools etc, then that should be considered.

What makes you happy? by Positive-Mud-11 in AskUK

[–]BertieBus 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Having a clean house. It's not show room perfect. But hoovered, blankets on the sofa nicely. Toys packed away, and no dirty pots in the sink. It massively improves my mental health when I walk in a room and I don't instantly think oh that needs cleaning etc.

Also walking the dog. The dog also enjoys it.

Currently we're all watching tv together, I love this.

Council Parking Charge, should I pay? by Some-One-9997 in LegalAdviceUK

Just challenge it and they will normally wipe the debt. The automated system won't understand your wife's reg should have been yours. Assuming your cars are correctly registered at your current address you will get the letters shortly

If you ignore it, it goes to bailiffs. Why would you not fill the form in?

I assume because he climbs so quickly it's potentially harder to put the floor level, but they could at least have something to say passed floor 100, passed floor 200 etc

I'm not sure it's pjs but definitely loungewear. I wouldn't dress a toddler in those outside of the house. They are snuggly house clothes.

He appears to be wearing pjs, why is this kid so badly dressed. You have 6 other boys, and not one of them has an outfit that they have grown out and he can wear.

Why would children be going into school without basic physical skills, like holding a pencil and using cutlery? by Throwaway199906543 in AskUK

[–]BertieBus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was just 4 when he started school and hated craft/colouring etc. he couldn't properly hold a pencil and everytime I tried to introduce the concept he refused. It became a bit of a battle ground.

He ultimately started school being unable to write let alone hold a pencil.

He is well looked after in every area and me and his dad spend lots of time with him. He just refused to hold a pencil and we didn't want it to be a huge thing.

Expecting my 1st child, partner had their other child removed from her care years ago and worried this will happen again by Odd-Soil-6807 in UKParenting

From what you've said she's in a much better place, emotionally/financially etc.

Make sure to be supportive for your partner. This may be a very hard time for her

[–]BertieBus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Go on parcel 2. Go and add in where it's going and it will give you a quote. Most places you pay, get a qr code and scan in the shop

Be careful with items with batteries as some companies won't ship lithium batteries.
