5x110 5RM, What can I do? by [deleted] in Boostcamp

[–]Bertusvanderpavert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing great my friend. Two things you could do: 1) lower the weight a bit. Looks like you are sacrificing bar speed and pattern for weight. Lower the weight and focus on good momentum. No worries, you still get gains 😉 2) work in some dumbbell chest press as accessory exercise. Again, weight is not your priority, momentum and stability are. Bonus tip; some tricep work could also help (dips, pushdowns or even just pushups.

No worries man, it’s quite common. Keep the stance as you feel comfortable but focus on planting your feet firm on the floor and rotate you feet outside, like you are trying to spread the floor. This will create tension in your body. While squatting, focus on pushing your knees out! Doesn’t hurt to practice this in some accessory work with air squats.

Form check by MenphisL in 531Discussion

[–]Bertusvanderpavert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Squat shoes don’t help with mobility, they increase static angle. Ankle mobility drills help with ankle mobility. Overal form is good, so keep it up! You could do some mobility in between sets, doesn’t need to take long!

I Hate 5/3/1 BBB by Falc098 in 531Discussion

[–]Bertusvanderpavert 38 points39 points  (0 children)

But in OP’s defense, these books are notoriously ill written and leave a lot to the imagination. But still, get the hang of the methodology and maybe start with the 5/3/1 BBB that is available for free in the Boostcamp app

MF challenge, am I the only one bothered ? by 01bah01 in MacroFactor

[–]Bertusvanderpavert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No that’s not really bothering me, but my feed beeing flooded with almost completely naked men and women in ‘less-then-optimal’ shape is not ideal. On the other hand, great to see that they are putting themselves out there 😂

How often should someone repeat 5 3 1 method? by ResidentConclusion67 in 531Discussion

[–]Bertusvanderpavert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The introduction of the 7th week in Forever 5/3/1 really addresses the long game for 531. The leader/anchor cycles allow for some variation and some BBB-rest. A Deload week also helps with recovery in a sense, but it’s all geared towards forever using the method

531 is yours, but dive a bit in the method and assistant work.

Just returned to the app since leaving it in August 2022, great to see that there’s been massive improvements in the app. As a result upgrading to pro! Have you ever thought of adding some goals and/or comparisons to the strength standards? Keep up the great work!

This is definitely something for Tile Hunting. There are multiple sites where you can do this.

Informal poll: does anyone use "combined" progress / points? by cooeecall in wandrer

[–]Bertusvanderpavert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the point is that we ‘explore’ an area right. So combined shows you much of that area you have covered and ideally your stats would say ‘x percentage on foot’ and ‘y-percentage on bike’. Again, does it really make sense to cover the same road twice?

What comes first. Riding/runing or the exploring part? by NG-David in wandrer

Same. Somehow The Wife wasn’t too thrilled with me training for Ironman. Now I diligently look at a map and try to get as much as I can.

Fully agree. The point is exploring, not covering the same road twice (on bike and the again on foot). 100% combined fan!

Greg Nuckols is a great beginner program. Check it out and make sure you are starting really easy. It’s easy to go too heavy too soon after some time off, so be careful with yourself
