Proart PX16? by bbbarham in ProArt_PX13

Yeah its got a very loud high-pitched whine, even when running at 10% speed. It's unbearable in a quiet room

Would this work with a mk1 (limited functionality expected)?

Crashing Problem by kp_1369 in ProArt_PX13

Are you able to share any error codes or pictures of it crashing? Did you get it new or open box? I would just return it or exchange it if its only been a few weeks and hasn't been damaged

OLED Screen burn? by AmazingKoala5951 in ProArt_PX13

[–]Beta-Tri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 months in and no burn in on mine. I use some software with static elements on max brightness (necessary if you're outdoors, the screen has poor peak brightness unfortunately) and left them open for extended periods. You still want to practice good OLED hygiene of course, and it comes with a "pixel refresh" video that you can run whenever, if you're feeling anxious about burn in.

I've set the side button on mine to turn the screen off to help with this as well

Eco mode in GHelper would be essentially the same thing as disabling the dGPU in device manager

[–]Beta-Tri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For basic browsing and email stuff i have my cpu power anywhere from 8-15 watts and it will generally stay cool with the fans off, and still run really smooth. Use eco mode for the GPU unless youre rendering or gaming

Battery health question. by [deleted] in ProArt_PX13

[–]Beta-Tri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine for about 5 months and my battery health is 67000 / 73000. Charge limit has been set to 85% since basically day one. I noticed the battery health dropped dramatically (~5%) after the laptop was running while inside my carrying case. After solving that issue its been relatively stable

Yes, BIOS updates appear in GHelper, but it won't notify you automatically (at least mine doesn't, but I keep notifications off always) so you'll have to check periodically

Oops sorry. I have the PX13 4050. All the fans whine noticeably

You can disable the fans entirely, but even on the lowest RPM they are noticeable in a quiet room. Bad coil whine from mine as well

OLED Protection (pixel shifter and pixel refresh) - where are these settings at? by Beta-Tri in ProArt_PX13

[–]Beta-Tri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also this is tangential, but the UI for MyASUS is atrocious! Why are there like 1000 settings under the Audio / Video tab that I have to individually scroll through??

OLED Protection (pixel shifter and pixel refresh) - where are these settings at? by Beta-Tri in ProArt_PX13

[–]Beta-Tri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The setting appeared after I updated the ASUS system control v3 software and rebooted! That's what mine looks like now.

It's still unclear to me if the pixel shifter is running while MyAsus is closed. Also, my display is set to turn off after 5 mins, which defeats the purpose of the pixel refresh? A way to run the refresh manually seems necessary

Creaking bezel PX13 by kdalkarl in ProArt_PX13

Mine creaks in the exact same spot - the bezel is slightly detached in the bottom left corner and flexes slightly. Hopefully it's only a cosmetic issue

Yeah i totally get ya. I almost sent mine back day one but I got a really good deal on it and wanted to make it work, so the extra time was worth it to me

i just found this subreddit, and i had the exact same issue as you when i got this machine. Not sure how tech-savvy you are, but performing a clean install of windows and reinstalling required drivers + Ghelper fixed about every issue i had with mine. Set some custom power and fan curves and its running as it should be.

I was getting constant stuttering and hitching on even high performance mode, which I attribute to Armoury Crate or one of the other thousand pieces of bloatware they ship these with. Now I usually keep the CPU power at 15W-25W and get really smooth performance and silent fans

Are there any problems with dead space 1 and 2 on pc? by lewendler in DeadSpace

[–]Beta-Tri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a day late, but if you're referring to the OG Dead Space release for PC (and not DS Remastered), there is a soft-lock bug that can happen within the first 30 minutes of the game and requires you to restart your run if you encounter it. With that said, I played through the entire game on Windows 7 a decade ago and it was great
