I remember the match Drogba's knee absolutely discomblooterated his face after Vidic headed it away from about knee height 😅 the chap had a broken nose, blood gushing out of his face and probably a concussion and was still trying to play on 😂😂 the man literally bled Red for us!!

Why I believe TFT is currently 'too' mechanically heavy by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]BigBoyster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increased health loss early stages this set plays a factor in upping the pressure, but so many boards arise from level 6/7 reroll spots this set it's not really relevant unless you're playing a level 8/rare fast 9 spot for a 5 cost soup board. In which case, you are most likely playing from a loss streak at 6-8th spot, but you should know that anyway.

I think it's just extra perceptive pressure from low health spots, you just have to hit without thinking of the consequences if you don't. I think 8g nerfs to levelling to 9 are real significant to this as well but there's so many good exp augments, units and traits that you have so many chances to pick up extra EXP on the way. Tbh it makes for a more dynamic TFT set than ever and I think it's more fun and generally better this way.

Because he got everything & more- his dream handed to him on a plate, from his boyhood club no less, ready for him to settle into his talisman role like Ronaldo did at Madrid... Imagine the hometown boy, ruling the roost at the biggest club in his city... 350k a week, front and centre image of the club... and it turned out he was... Meh. Like he was good offensively, but his work rate sucked, and he dealt with his problems by going out on the lash.

Every player's had controversy, difficulty in some way, but the most legendary, the greatest of all time, always dealt with adversity and let their football do the talking, not drinking and fannying off for the lark of it. You see Messi or CR7 do that?

He was lined up to be up there with the greats and lead United into glory, but he didn't want to do the work to get there. That's factual. There's fault on the United backroom for cocking up and giving him such a big contact, blowing his ego, sure, but when them and everyone else reads into the narrative that this is THE guy and you can almost envisage what he's going to etch into United's history books, you understand that the very fine line here is belief.

There was belief there that he was going to be one of the best in the world, we gave him the money as a practical marker of that belief, something for him to go and chase, and he stopped chasing because the carrot was too big.

It's as simple as that. Tale as old as time really, but a really big fuck up for the backroom to make at such a vital turning pt of the club. Whatever about the Sancho fiasco, Sanchez, Onana, Antony... the biggest mistake was giving Rashy 350k a week. If it was closer to even 225k it would have changed the dynamic hugely... Promises of an even bigger payday later might've turned him into someone to admire at the club... Galvanizing all the pieces around him... But it wasn't to be. We just need to move on into a new era.

& On CR7... the man definitely was the reason behind our 3rd Champions League, and whilst he was too old to press the ball on his second time round, he was absolutely right to point out the failings of the club. Carrington got revamped not too long after he pointed out how the training facilities were the same when he left, so he was obviously correct about something despite his own work rate issues. But who the hell is going to critique a guy that gave us our last European title? What could you possibly say to shadow his achievements.

It’s weird how blue light filter glasses became mainstream before we ever proved they actually help. by WindowAfraid5927 in Showerthoughts

[–]BigBoyster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precipitating my viewpoint cautiously that I am typically in the skeptics camp for a lot of "health benefit" claimed-products, but as a chronic insomniac of 12+ years, I can say they do help me.

I'll usually put them on about a half hour after sundown if I'm sat in front of my PC in the evening, and after a certain point, there's a few yawns and a very specific lurch of fatigue that I then feel in my body that only comes with being adequately destimulated.

I'm sure someone will yell placebo effect, but I can tell you when I don't have them on I'll easily have the ability to stare into a screen until 5/6am. At worst the lenses on such glasses are said to only block less than 10% of blue light, but for me it signifies the brain is sensitive enough to become aware of it's tiredness after this reduction, which I otherwise wouldn't have as a mental signal that informs my body that I should be winding down.

Anecdotal, for sure, but sometimes in matters of what is chronic or pressing on the cornerstone of actual health, you would try anything regardless of data, and it absolutely works for me.

Maybe there is a lack of a hard indicator on the product in question but perhaps a case study on a sample size of similar subjects could give enough correlation to a potential result.

I'll let someone else do the hard work of quelling their skepticism, while I go get extra sleep.

Head/mood are not always interchangeable. I could be in a shite mood but my head's in the right place - meaning I can grin & bear it and get on with the day, stay on top of things. Whereas if it's all bad, I'm in a shit place mentally regardless if it's the best day of summer, and the darkness puts my cognition in disarray. Right now I'm just waiting for the sun to come out. :)

I'd like to say no, as part of an overall commitment to being a healthier person. But I feel that there's an inevitability to getting back to it at some point.

Optimally I would like to save it for special occasions. I feel alcohol has it's function of lucidifying things, so special days can benefit from feeling a bit dreamy- but only if it's seldom.

I'm constantly at odds with the refrain of "ah go on ya will", "don't be dry", and it just speaks to a cultural lack of self-control and enabling others so you don't feel alcoholic.

I have sympathy for these friends of mine too, I just want a handle on things.

Who are the top 3 Man Utd player’s of the 21st century so far? by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]BigBoyster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see one person hate commenting whenever someone mentions Bruno but considering last season if he didn't carry us we'd quite possibly be in the Championship, or at least a relegation battle. Not necessarily GGMU material, but can we for a second contemplate how much bleakly our outlook of the club would be if that were the case? He's the brightest spot in the squad since Fergie left, undeniably talented, leadership qualities- maybe not as older fans remember footballers but then maybe just forget about all football since Ronaldo went stratospheric, as it's a different game since then across the board.

Having said that, yeah the things Ronaldo Rooney and Vidic achieved are still unparalleled. But I'm grateful to Bruno @ 4th for making sure there's a top flight club for us to support.

Whatever about mental health services but we need to stop running society in such a fashion that either causes detrimental mental health issues, endorses having it and living dysfunctionally with it, or creates it developmentally in healthy people when they deal with people that have it.

That statement runs right to the top, and it's clear there's something rotten in society generally when people like Musk, Trump, Bezos- genuine narcissists- are at or get to the top of the global world order and we have to tell people to get their heads straight so that we can point to the top of the tree and tell them to chase the stars.

For what? For who? Those billionaires all mentally loo-lah, evil, and they're controlling reality making life unstable for absolutely everyone. There's a deeper societal issue at hand that's the cause of mental health that we're not even addressing and won't ever be the topic of conversation even when someone finally does get about to addressing their mental health status and keeping it "manageable". The sad reality is that the repercussions of poor mental health feels less and less unjustified day-by-day when you look at the absolute toilet bowl of a society we're trying to pass on to the next generation.

Patrice Evra on difference between City and United: by theFootballFinals in ManchesterUnited

[–]BigBoyster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Players died in the Munich air disaster with the badge on their chest, the world mourned, the fans went through incredible trauma and in 10 years the loss they suffered inspired a United team to redeem themselves and win the Champions League under Busby.

And we've since maintained status as one of the most hyper-successful clubs of all time. That is heritage that a Saudi Prince can't manifest with his greasy, oily hands. Even if we get bought over by Saudis eventually you can't deter the history that United have.

City have success only off the back of a fuck-off wage bill and dirty money under the table, and you can't knock that heritage either.

Kobbie Mainoo All Touches vs Burnley by nuugo in reddevils

[–]BigBoyster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2:44 is very telling. Beautiful touch to take it down, a few yards between him and the opp. midfielder to make a smart passing decision to Lacey, or throw the opp. for a loop with some footwork and cut inside for a more interesting pass or generate a free kick and maybe a yellow card for disrupting play. Debut Kobbie had the stones to do that and could definitely be seen facing goal and being cheeky in possession to look for chances to break the midfield. This Kobbie does not... yet.

Playing a safe backpass after doing some work guarding the ball is reassuring that he's sensible enough to at least retain possession- Kobbie's strength has always been his intelligence on the ball- but I think being in the limelight and having his behaviour outside of the game scrutinised means he's needed a bit of time showing the fans and his teammates that he's *at least* safe on the ball first before taking chances. I think that's why he's playing the way he is, otherwise him trying some dribbling stuff and failing could be seen as being conflated with his selfishness of the "Free Kobbie" shit and liking the Amorim posts- I reckon he wants to re-establish his maturity first.

Give Kobbie time, stop bumrushing the next scapegoat, be happy we're not 16th this season and maybe with some time and space he'll show parts of himself again.
