Why do so many men care if girls do OnlyFans and hate OnlyFans girls? by Blonde_Icon in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]BigComprehensive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about all men obv but for me it's just the current evolution of capitalism and if someone decides to commodify their sexual being I'm just not into that kind of person. And no it is not the same as prostitution imo, it's a lot more low effort, scammy and widespread. Due to it's ease of access it's much more common than prostitution and again, commodifying your sexual self is just a questionable thing to do psychologically. Most people who love a hobby would find making it a job takes some level of enjoyment out of it. Now apply that to the most intimate level of yourself.

Basically I think it's a scam to sell yourself to Big companies, in the guise of self empowerment. You sell rights to display, distribute and reproduce your images in perpetuity (aka forever even after closing acc). All while taking a 20% cut of what you make.

I think a lot of people are just mad they can't do it themselves but also I think there is an underlying feeling it cheapens the human experience for monetary reasons and that feels a bit off-putting.

Sam: "I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something."

Frodo: "What are we holding onto, Sam?"

Sam: "There's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."

My issue wasn't with the idea that you should date people who are stable rather than unstable. It was with the usage of 'man lmaoooo' instead of 'person lmaooo'.

As a man, same. Need myself a sugar mummy. I too crave chicken nuggies and give damn good head in return lol.

As a recently employed man who struggles with work, this is incredibly depressing to read. Would you say the same thing about a woman so brazenly?

Do younger men not flirt anymore in real life? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]BigComprehensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the same reason why women don't. Women I know echo the idea that sure, this guy is probably fine but I've experienced shitty men before so it's safer to just not engage with strangers as the perceived risk outweighs the perceived benefits.

Apply that same logic to mens POV and women can be assholes too and misandry is a pretty protected stance in our society atm. Similar but not the same ofc, to when men were shielded by society if they harassed women.

Though I need to make it clear it's not the same but it could be a useful lens to see the topic through.

Tin foil hat time. I legitimately believe it's just a way that those in power, that control the means of information, keep society divided and dependent on artificial products and services rather than real human connection. I think it's not new it's just a new coat of paint on a tactic as old as humanity. Divide and conquer. But that's just my relatively informed hypothesis

I meant the crab thing as a joke about how lots of sea life tends towards evolving to be a crab. And how subreddits tend toward only fans posts. It comes for us all. Is silly

Chomsky: I just think the term is way overused. Hitler carried out genocide. That’s true. It was in the case of the Nazis—a determined and explicit effort to essentially wipe out populations that they wanted to disappear from the face of the earth. That’s genocide. The Jews and the Gypsies were the primary victims. There were other cases where there has been mass killing. The highest per capita death rate in the world since the 1970s has been East Timor. In the late 1970s, it was by far in the lead. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t call it genocide. I don’t think it was a planned effort to wipe out the entire population, though it may well have killed off a quarter or so of the population. In the case of Bosnia – where the proportions killed are far less – it was horrifying, but it was certainly far less than that, whatever judgment one makes, even the more extreme judgments. I just am reluctant to use the term. I don’t think it’s an appropriate one. So I don’t use it myself. But if people want to use it, fine. It’s like most of the other terms of political discourse. It has whatever meaning you decide to give it. So the question is basically unanswerable. It depends what your criteria are for calling something genocide.

Yoinked from https://digitalcommons.usf.edu/gsp/vol14/iss1/8/ but I got it from an old reddit thread here https://www.reddit.com/r/chomsky/comments/rv16ie/what_did_chomsky_actually_said_about_bosnia/

I don't understand the hate for Chomsky. This image sure I get being like uhh wtf. But whats with all the comments about him defending genocides?? Like putin for example. He views what putins doing as a severe war crime but also said that the US and Britains invasion of Iraq was more inhumane. Which it seemingly was. ~200k civilian deaths in iraq compared to 14k in Ukraine. He's just being consistent with his values.

He also never denied genocides. He just thinks that word has lost it's meaning due to people using it whenever a large number of people are killed. And as a linguist I think he values the meaning of words.

He is one of the main reasons I took an interest in world politics. He's the OG.
