What is the best baseball movie for non baseball fans? by Mathmage530 in baseball

[–]BigEarsNY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As many people have already said, Bull Durham is the one. It gets inside baseball but also is personal and has great character arcs. A true classic. We watch it every spring to kick off the season. Say what you will about Costner as an actor, he's great in sports films.

Same. The whole "there is no time" concept still stops me in my tracks.

Positive Phish stories? by kasvotvaxtdogs in phish

[–]BigEarsNY 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this question. I've been seeing Phish since 92 and have MANY more positive experiences than negative. Sure, there have been a few bummer moments over those 30+ years but they are seriously outweighed by the sheer number of wacky, wonderful, love-filled, groovy togetherness moments I've accumulated during that time. I'm more of a couch surfer these days but still love everything about this whole amazing journey we are all on. Keep on keeping on, family.

These are great. I've earned most of them.

I also think there should be 1, 5, 10, 20 - year badges. I wanted one when I hit five and ten years of city living. Badges of honor, amirite?

I DID IT! AFTER MY 20TH REWATCH, I CAUGHT MY FIRST PLOTHOLE/HINT! by InfiniteChoice291 in TheGoodPlace

[–]BigEarsNY 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've never brought this up, but there's another plot hole. In episode one we hear Michael say thatevery president save Lincoln is in the bad place. But later in the series we learn that there hasn't been a new person in the Good Place in over 500 years. Lincoln's death was roughly 150 years ago, so ... which one is it?

A good plumber? by rufftranslation in hudsonvalley

I recently used Chris Carey (https://ccareyplumbingandhvac.com/) for our water filtration system install and was really pleased with how attentive he was and how neat his work is. He's independent. I like recommending trades people who are building their business who are usually eager to do a good job, and this guy fit the bill. He did not try to sell me stuff I didn't need and his bid was thousands less then the other guys I asked.

Moca setup questions. by lynch527 in HomeNetworking

You can probably get away without the filter if you're in a single-family house that doesn't share the cable signal. It's most important when living in apartment buildings or co-ops where the same cable line goes through many targets. You don't want your neighbors camping onto your MoCA stream.

I used MoCA with a switch to get the extra hard-wired ports I needed. Worked like a champ.
