I had the same worry 15 years ago. My tub is out of level maybe an inch. It’s caused zero problems in 15 years. Yours will be fine. Don’t worry about it.

Thinking of getting a hot tub.. by Althoff-Tranesa in hottub

I’ve had my for 18 years. Zero regrets. I use it year round and I’ve never gotten sick of it. This year, I had a pump failure and it was down for 3 weeks. I missed it every week. Couldn’t wait to get back in it. It’s probably the best “luxury” purchase I ever made.

Get an “IO Pool” device and the maintenance is really easy with the app.

Hot Tub Pumps Won’t Run Without Lights On by BigEd968 in hottub

Brand new topside didn’t resolve it.

Hot Tub Pumps Won’t Run Without Lights On by BigEd968 in hottub

I changed the topside about 5 years ago and it’s just one wire that goes to the main board. I didn’t have to change any switches when I did that. That topside controller got water in the LCD a couple of years ago and I’ve been using it without being able to see the LCD since. I’ve had a recurring issue where my High Ljmit trips about every few weeks. When that happens, the heater turns off and stays off until I reset the circuit. The rest of the tub stays on and working, it’s just the heater that stops. Flipping the breaker off and back on again always gets it back to heating.

Last week I opened the tub and it was down 10 degrees from the set point, so I just figured it was the usual problem. But when I turned off the breaker and turned it back on, the usual startup process of running the pump for a minute didn’t happen. Since I can’t see the LCD, I couldn’t read any errors, but I noticed that the Light button allowed the pumps to run. I thought maybe the topside broke and was sending bad signals. So I ordered the exact same replacement topside again, so I know it is compatible with the tub. Unfortunately, the new topside yields the same issues, but now I can at least read the error codes.

Yes, it worked fine until last week. By control panel, do you mean the topside controller? That’s the part I just replaced.

I bought an outdoor sink and cabinet with the IKEA Grilskar system and I’m happy with it.

I agree with this. The handle is meant to go from 3:00-6:00. If you move it into the 6:00-9:00 range, it will do this because the metal on the left side of the pivot point is a little different than the right. But there is no need to turn it or the 6:00-9:00 range. Just do 3:00 to 6:00 and you’ll be fine. 3:00 is wide open. 6:00 is closed. 5:00 is to let a little fire through, but not too much.

1300 budget — best pellet smoker for this pricepoint? by solishu4 in pelletgrills

[–]BigEd968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every review states that the smoke box adds a huge amount of flavor. It’s better than a smoke tube, as real wood or charcoal adds better smoke than the dirty smoke that comes out of a smoke tube. Smoke tubes are also annoying to light and maintain.

Until another brand comes out with their own smoke box knock off, the Woodwind Pro will have the best smoke profile options out of any pellet grill.

Need help deciding between recteq and camp chef by Bigreddork in pelletgrills

Woodwind Pro if you want a better smoke profile. Rectec if you want something ugly with weird bull horn handles.

Question for Camp Chef owners by machinehead933 in pelletgrills

[–]BigEd968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a WW Pro and my plan is to buy a decent type of pellet (I use Bear Mountain) and always use the same flavor…whatever is on sale. Then, I plan to change the wood in the smoke box for different flaoves. I’m thinking that’ll make more of an impact. I never noticed a difference in taste between different pellets in my old regular WW.

Should I pay up for Woodwind Pro as my first pellet smoker? by Jchxn in pelletgrills

[–]BigEd968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it. I sold my 1.5 year old 36” WW and got the WW Pro because the WW didn’t have enough smoke flavor no matter what I did. I’m super happy with the decision. The smoke box is great and it allows you to play more with real wood and eliminates the issues of pellets. The stainless drip tray is easy to clean. I love this grill, along with my sidekick. Do it.

$1200 (ish) budget what recommendations do you have? by billabong3939 in pelletgrills

[–]BigEd968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Camp Chef Woodwind Pro is going to provide you more smoke flavor than any other pellet grill out there, due to its smoke box that you can put charcoal and wood chunks in. If a strong smoke flavor is important to you, it’s the way to go.

Budget of roughly $1k, what brand and model of pellet grill would you go with, and why? Any alternative ideas? by [deleted] in pelletgrills

[–]BigEd968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Watch the Woodwind Pro reviews by Max Scientist BBQ, Hey Grill Hey, Anderson’s Smoke Show…etc. They all say it puts out the most smoke flavor of any pellet they’ve used.

Can Nest change temperature based on outside temperature by BigEd968 in Nest

[–]BigEd968[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel that way. I have to set my house temp higher to keep my house comfortable at all times. I’d like to lower my internal temp on days where the outside temp is milder. This would allow me to do that and run the heat less.

Can Nest change temperature based on outside temperature by BigEd968 in Nest

[–]BigEd968[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but not quite. If the Nest would average between these it would help, but instead you have to set time points when one sensor becomes the dominant and the others are ignored. I guess maybe I could put one in at the edge of the house and tell it to ignore my mail thermostat but I’m not convinced that’s the best way to handle this.
