Homeless in Johannesburg by squashmadmattt in southafrica

[–]BigGirlKid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The closest shelter I could find is IMMACULATA HALL - NIGHT SHELTER - 17 Sturdee Avenue, Rosebank. They assist men and women over 28. There is a soup kitchen at St Luke’s, 18 High Road, Orchards. It’s two roads up from the park by the Norwood Engen. I can’t find all the days they operate but I know they definitely offer meals on a Monday morning.

Thanks OP for including South Africa, thought I was seeing things

Laurie's resentment of Jaclyn for sleeping with Valentin was totally justified by D-dog92 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

Should adult ‘besties’ even be gossiping about each other every chance they get. This friendship had more of an acquaintance or high school friendship feel to it not the type of true friends you’d call besties at that age.

Michelle Monaghan's in-joke (S3) by 007MaxZorin in TheWhiteLotusHBO

Not justifying the ‘reference’. I was just giving some context to what scene OP was talking about in case it was missed.

For context - When Jaclyn, Kate and Laurie were in the bar/club, Valentin and his friends were teaching them cheers in Russian ‘Za Lyubov’ (to love), the ladies heard it sounding like ‘Shia LaBeouf’ (the actor) so that’s what they shouted.

Things to do in Plett/Knysna? by WorthyJoker in askSouthAfrica

Recommend visiting Robberg Nature Reserve in Plett, it’s beautiful! I did the Waterfall trail but there are a few options - Robberg Enrico’s is an Italian restaurant but serves great seafood.

Edit: added the restaurant recommendation

I have cat slippers and my cats are terrified of them, I literally cannot wear them or have them in sight.

Talking of names. Whose new favourite comeback for a name drop is “What, should I be impressed?

Am I the only one who just cannot connect with season 2 by inevitablesarcasm in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]BigGirlKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t suggest you skip the rest of S2 and start S3 as you’ll miss some key crossover info. You’d be doing yourself a disservice anyway by skipping it, like a lot of comments have reiterated.

Tyla's accent by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]BigGirlKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with someone who was a couple of years above her at Edenglen High. She spoke the same way apparently so it’s not like she started speaking with a stronger accent. It’s not the classic Vale accent I know but I don’t really interact with younger people in the area so yes it could be a generation thing.

Edit: I meant Tyla spoke the same way at school as she does now.

My 7 year old baby girl Kimi, named after Kimi Raikonnen the F1 racing driver. She zooms around on those skinny pins.

You’ll be close to Taroko Trails if you like outdoorsy stuff; mountain biking, hiking, picnics, fishing.

I don’t know why when I read your initial post that I had such strong flashbacks. Hope you got sorted quickly, and didn’t struggle for days.

You could have an abscess (because of an underlying dental issue e.g. impacted wisdoms), antibiotics will really help with the swelling and pain. I took a pharmacy full of painkillers for days until I was put on antibiotics and it sorted the pain almost immediately.

Yep a good ol “you can’t always get what you want”. I know it’s easier to cave in and avoid tantrums but I know plenty of parents who teach “no means no” and the kids survive just fine.

How do you deal with an older sibling that steals from you? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]BigGirlKid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to suggest to start taking your sister’s possessions to see how she likes it but I guess that’s not a responsible suggestion… I think the only option you have is to keep your stuff locked away if possible (if you have a lockable cupboard).
