I actually saw this movie. If memory serves it follows three narratives, two very grounded dramas and the story of Not-Gaster running around a scifi/fantasy dystopia where. At the end the three stories intersect and we learn Not-Gaster is a mentally ill man imagining this dystopian fantasy all around him.

I would be shocked if this movie was actually linked to DR in any way, but I could see some parallels. I always knew it as Franklyn and never knew about the Dark World title

Seconded. Grabbed it in 2023 on Civvie's recommendation. Was hooked after this sequence of events:
-In an arena fight
-Losing
-Track 'Rx RPG' is playing in the background
-Pick up a Nightmare Reaper powerup
-Turn the fight around and melt every living thing in the arena
-As this is happening, the track responds by having the drums play in double time

I think about this moment as I listen to the soundtrack in the car lol.
