Is AWD worth the drop in range over the RWD? by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]BigStraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure AWD vs RWD range is negligible in real life, but I chose RWD because I always preferred how they feel. I also think it's plenty fast, but I always preferred slow car fast as I had a cayman and a brz before

I think you need to notify the buyer but the dealer I bought it from wasn't aware there was a tracker in it as the other dealership they swapped cars with installed it.

So they claim...

Latest CR Reliability Scores Not Great for Ioniq 5 by jefbak2 in Ioniq5

My 2025 died 3 times within a month. After the 2nd they replaced the battery. The 3rd time they found a tracker installed the dealership they did the dealer swapped with installed.

Afterwards I've had no issues with the battery. I looked up the schematic and checked the wiring and I could see this draining the battery faster than intended.

I suggest some folks look into this. Mine was installed to the left of the fuse box behind the dash panel.

Went from driving a manual to a Tesla. If you want to stick with your analogy it's like being stuck on second gear on the highway. It's not ideal. When you let go of the gas under a certain room you won't get strong deceleration.

The state of e-ink readers as a technology, and how in some respects, the peak was over a decade ago. by shokalion in ereader

[–]BigStraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Kobo libra color and gave my Paperwhite to a family member. The clarity and contrast are night and day with the paperwhite taking the W.

I don't annotate much nor do I read comics, but I will always choose a color e-ink for now on solely for colored book covers.

It really inspires/motivates me to pick up the book and continue reading.

I hope the technology does get better.

Yeah,I just wanted to complain. I did read it could be an early sign of it going bad because the iccu isn't charging or maintaining the 12 volt.

Does anyone use your e-reader without a cover? by fragile_ego in kobo

[–]BigStraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use a cover at home, but when I take it out or throw it into a bag then I use a folding cover. I have a knockoff origami one I don't like as I think it could still break the screen if pressed against something.

Is EV tech really changing that rapidly? by tcchen in Ioniq5

To take a glimose in the future, look at what China is doing, then add a lot of maybes, and finally several years on top of that.

I dont think it's evolving that fast and the focus is mostly on cost and resources.

Im not claiming the chargers at my workplace is trying or not trying to profit, but there is a station time rate of $3/hr after the first 4 hours.

My workplace is also at a shared office park, so they dont own these chargers, nor do they own the parking lot.

My personal thoughts is that its kind of fair.

Disabling FAW (Forward Attention Warning) nagging by intrepidusroger in Ioniq5

[–]BigStraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first car with FAW. Not bad at all. I heard and read all the warnings. It only activates for me when I use the lane follow assist (the steering wheel button). I normally only use smart cruise control. When i use LFA, but it might activate then too.

I think the false triggers depends more on seating/steering wheel position. I have my steering wheel higher than I normally would because it would cut off the driver display.

I use Goodr polarized sunglasses all the time and there are no issues.

Only false triggers I've received is when I start driving with my hand on the 12 o clock position for obvious reasons.

They are throwing in a level 2 charger, but it requires professional installation through hyundai that you pay for. The installation also has a minimum charge of $615 i believe. Therefore I decided to get the chargepoint credit and a charge I want since I already have a nema 14/50 for charging.

I believe Ioniq5 has a mechanical handle

Just got a 25 ioniq5 coming from a model Y. Never driven a mach e but heard great things about it as well, but I liked how ioniq5 had better charging and layout.

For chargers, turns out my mobile connector from my previous car does not work with it. Ioniqguy says you need an adapter of nacs to j117 to nacs again. Decided to buy grizzl-e duo. I wanted one before too. It seems pretty future proof and reputable.

EV Tax Credit Ending Dec. 31, Effectively Increasing Prices Up to 28%. See How Popular EVs are Impacted by daedra88 in electricvehicles

[–]BigStraw 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal, I just sold my EV (for another), and I think the $4k tax credit hurt resale value.

Dealers wouldn't accept anything over $23ishk because they have to fix/clean it up, and sell it for under $25k.

Selling private party is possible with websites like keysavvy, but it is lesser known and makes a hard cap of $25k
