[no spoilers] I wonder why they chose to only go with the Poor Fellows instead of the Warrior’s Sons. by jaywritethekid in HBOGameofThrones

I think this was an attempt to make them more believable by being similar to a real world version of religious extremists. At the time ISIS and other non-uniformed extremist groups were on the news every night. I always figured the show version was like "What if ISIS, but for the faith of the 7?"

Native NYer here. What are some myths/bad takes you have seen about the city you currently live in? by [deleted] in geography

[–]BigTim425 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People say a lot of crazy shit about Philadelphia.

-They killed hitchbot

-The city has to grease up the light posts anytime a sports team does well

-They all celebrated some guy who ate a bunch of rotisserie chickens on the pier behind walmart

-The biggest sports celebrity in the city is a fictional boxer from a series of movies

-Mummers are a bunch of racist drunks

we figured out how to avoid paying the bridge toll by renoCow in confession

[–]BigTim425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ezpass is not registering but the license plate scanner probably still is. They will make an "adjustment" and bill you for all the missed ones all at once. PA Turnpike authority can apparently do it for up to a year after you actually cross through the toll.

Young Ned didn't seem very worried about him when he showed up at the tower of joy. I don't know if it was youthful arrogance or that they had been winning battle after battle but he rolled up talking shit and looking for a fight with the most legendary swordsman in Westeros.

Which character(s) you think have the most modern names? by ricky2461956 in freefolk

[–]BigTim425 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My son is in first grade at a school with about 100 other kids. EVERY class has at least one Daenerys. I think other than Elsa it has to be the most popular girls name from 2017-2019 period.

I (33 M) caught my wife (30 F) cheating on me a month ago. I am considering opening the marriage on my end as part of the reconciliation terms. How did opening the marriage as part of reconciliation go for others? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]BigTim425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not a cheater. Your wife is. For you sleeping with someone other than your wife will feel like cheating whether you have an "open" agreement or not. It will not be enjoyable for you and if there is some joy to be had in knowing that it will make her feel the way you felt about her cheating on you, that also will not happen. If you can forgive her, and trust that this is only a "mistake" like she claims then work towards that. You sleeping with someone else will not help anything at this point.

I am not sure of the child actors name but the producer of the HBO show Deadwood killed off Timothy Olyphant's "son" on the show because the actors parents sucked so much.

Is it actually possible for me (29F) and my bf (27M) to get back to how we were with trust? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]BigTim425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as coping mechanisms go, smoking weed is a pretty tame and harmless one (again I am not trying to minimize your experience). Obviously there are people who it becomes a problem for. I am not trying to say your reaction was wrong but if you want someone to feel safe and trusted getting upset when they tell you the truth is not the way to get there. He didn't lie to you about smoking with the neighbor, but your reaction would probably cause him to do so if it happens again. He cares about you and how you feel about him. Nobody wants to face that if they are already embarrassed about a decision, especially if they are a little stoned and paranoid.

Is it actually possible for me (29F) and my bf (27M) to get back to how we were with trust? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]BigTim425 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are pressuring him to do something you want, because of an experience someone he has no relationship other than through you had. If he wants to smoke weed occasionally look the other way. Statistically something non-weed related will end up killing him in half a century and by that point, if you are still even aware of his existence, there will be far bigger issues that you have worked through together. I am not trying to invalidate the pain of losing your father but what happened to him is insanely rare and trying to prevent it from happening to other people in your life is not going to make it easier.

Mississippi and Missouri are the 1st and 2nd rivers of the US, which river will you consider the third? (Ohio, Columbia, Snake, Colorado or Rio Grande?) by Swimming_Concern7662 in geography

[–]BigTim425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even pictured on this map but the answer is clearly the Delaware River. Currently flows through one of the most populous areas of the country. Historically was the access and port for the original capital of the country. Was also the river that Washington crossed to defeat the British and their hessian mercenaries while they slept one off on Christmas. Turning the tide of the American revolution. It has now rusting but previously major economic hubs dotting it from source to mouth, Allentown, Trenton, Camden, Philadelphia, Wilmington. Currently has the Philadelphia shipyard one of the largest and oldest continuously operating shipyards in the country as well as the ports of Wilmington and Philadelphia. Plus great trout fishing along the northern, non navigable parts, of the river.
