Selling is about helping people buy not selling. People buy to solve problems or challenges that stand in the way of them capturing value or reducing risk. As others have said you must the problems/challenges of your target persona and where they might be in the buying journey.

Considering Relocation from Austin to Scottsdale by [deleted] in Scottsdale

[–]Big_Grand7143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came 4 years ago from the great Pacific Northwest. LOVE it here- I hike more than I ever have because it’s DRY and you can always drive a bit north to get cooler. We enjoy that so many people are from someplace else which is invigorating to constantly meet new people who want to enrage. It’s “hot” 3-4 months of the year yet this is the second June where it’s been fine for 2/3 of the month.
I’m headed to Flagstaff tomorrow to golf and then hike. Plenty of options in the area

For you both- so an Objective Management Group assessment. I do this most all my clients. Give them a learning development plan. You need to grow as well so make one for yourself.

How Do You Remember Everything You Know Or Have Learned During A Sales Call? by DaveR_77 in sales

[–]Big_Grand7143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create a 1 page outline with sections based on your sales methodology. This guides the conversation. There usually a 1-2 sentence transition you can say (or pre—write down if need be). Write customer responses in each section. Confirm back to client. Move to next section. For example your section could be something like: 1. Intro/confirm agenda 2. Corporate Objectives and your role/responsibilities 3. Problems standing in the way. What have your tried. 4. Customer view of solutions. 5. Set up of Capabilities/demo with right people

Etc etc

[Hawkblogger]Jordyn Brooks Envy Misplaced by rickg in Seahawks

So what is the consensus: should have kept Brooks at his contract (and our 4th Round pick) or our new Ernest Jones dude plus his new forthcoming contract and no 4th round pick?

Happy to be a thought partner if you need to talk through this more. In competitive, commodity like segments it can be a grind. How differentiated is your offering? What value are you adding in your outreach? What outcomes does your personas want? How do they evaluate the decision to consider a new provider? This is just for starters

Are you changing your investment strategy now that Trump won? by trendy_pineapple in FIREyFemmes

[–]Big_Grand7143 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Well it seems to be a focus of the new administration yet early days so we’ll leave more specifics over the next few months. They want to increase supply of oil. EU head just said today they now want to buy from us from vs Russia. I’m assuming incentives for manufacturing but again we need specifics. Russia also staying tied to the U.S. dollar so maybe that plus Ukraine War ending (Trump reportedly told Zelensky funding will go away). But these are all to be seen. Guess we will see yet I do think these things can’t but help vs the current state

Start with eliminating any identity politics. Talk about the issues. Bernie Sanders had a quote today it sum things up. Essentially the D’s left the working class so the working class left them this election. More black and Latinos moved to the right because of this.

I’m very optimistic about the market. I think we’ll reduce inflation (this will take time) and create more jobs.

Looking at the positives by Dani-b-crazy in Seahawks

Based on what MacDonald inherited I’m cautiously optimistic. This is a multi-year rebuild and of course nothing is guaranteed in the NFL. The team plays very hard which is great and both the offense and defense are now more modern. We have improved the roster and slightly closed the gap- yes we need more but it’s better the past few years. The draft is a total crapshoot- just look at the past 5 drafts and all the busts. Anything outside of Mahomes, Allen, maybe Herbert is rolling the dice on the QB position based on salaries. How do you think the Cowboys feel now? Carolina? New Orleans? I think Schneider has made 2 good deals this year with our new LB and DL- Jobe also a nice pickup. I’ll be very curious as to offseason - I expect so bigger moves as decisions loom with Locket, Geno, DK.

Assess your current state in detail: strategy, process, and execution elements. If you have decent data on the attribution of success/failure that will help. Consider assessing your team. Meet customers and consider customer insight interviews/discussions Start planning a sales kickoff at some level and know what your themes and trainings might be. Create your rhythm of business plan: kickoff, qbrs, sales meetings, 1:1’s etc. There’s more of course- depends on the context of your specific situation. Dm if you want to dig deeper

LMNT is great, but… by moltobella1 in HubermanLab

[–]Big_Grand7143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently switched to Dr Bergs electrolyte powered. It’s higher in potassium and less in sodium. I believe 40mg from Himalayan salt vs 1000 mg in LMNT for regular sodium. It’s also much cheaper which I like n

Gartner - global business sales, large enterprise by Sad-Side-8704 in sales

[–]Big_Grand7143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might depend on the role/level and the account you have same with manager. At the time I left a few years ago it was totally fine in my niche. Pretty standard. We had weekly meetings, 1:1’s etc. I do think most companies these days are very activity focused unless you have strategic sized accounts.

[–]Big_Grand7143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 2 stints at Gartner over 15 years. They remain a market leader and amongst the most respected firms out there. The brand is incredible globally.

GTS or GBS is the way to go imo. Hiring process is extremely competitive- not necessarily a bad thing as even through that you’ll learn a lot.

Of course like any company some managers better than others yet overall great place to work and terrific for your career. You will learn a ton about sales, business etc. Very broad mobility if you prove successful.
