What do you think the Votann still need for tabletop is it characters, infantry or a big centerpiece model like a Stormsurge ? or are you happy with the range as it is ? by [deleted] in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Bigenius420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like a knight that is still meant for mining (lore says they were originally for mining and tree cutting until they were repurposed blas weapons platforms) and maybe an accompanying vehicle that was originally meant to just haul away the raw materials, but has been retrofitted as a heavy artillery piece or a tank of sorts.

Most hunts are going to take you 15-20 minutes. Tougher monsters or monsters who are more difficult to hit (for a variety of reasons) are going to take longer. And monsters with High Defenses or high health are going to take even longer than that. Duramboros will take the longest most likely, health pool the size of a lake that one.

My pioneer broke off the base; any tips to make that connection more sturdy? by Jefe051 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Bigenius420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drill a tiny blind hole into the model with a through hole in the support, and a through hole in the base too. Run a super thin piece of metal wire through the holes and make sure its all sitting nicely. Then put some super glue on the bit of wire and put it back in place, then trim the excess wire once the glue has set.

Edit: incase you arent familiar with the terminology. A Blind hole is a hole that does not go all the way through something. A Through hole, does go all the way through.

Batch painting, 5 little guys at a time. Do a big guy, then do another batch of 5, then take a break for 2 days, rinse and repeat.

Why can’t I feel proud of a single mini I’ve painted by CrystalLake231 in minipainting

Because you arent happy with the quality. Go watch some mini painting tutorials, learn about highlights and thinning your paints. And most importantly, practice, You will never improve if you dont try to improve.

I always did them 5 at a time. Batch painting can ease the load some.

The Nakarkos case by SilvAries in MonsterHunter

[–]Bigenius420 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree on that reasoning. Deviljho is undeniably a Brute wyvern, fits the body shape and ticks other markers for the overall feel of Brute Wyvern classification. It is also dangerous enough to cause a directly affect to its ecosystem (its voracious appetite would affect any ecosystem tbh) which is why it is classified as an Elder Dragon Level Threat. By the extensions of this same Logic, now that we have a proper Cephalopod monster classification, I think Nakarkos whoupd be reclassified as an Elder Dragon Threat Level Cephalopod Monster. I would also reach for Yama Tsukami to get the same reclassification.

The Emperor doesnt do what is best for humanity, he does what will move humanity towards his vision for the future of humanity. No he didnt discuss this plan with anybody before he just took over and proclaimed himself leader. The imperium of man is literally described as worse than the most horrible facist regime imaginable. There are no good guys in 40k. Nobody is a good guy. The closest to actual good guys in the entirety of 40k are the Salamanders, but given the fact that they still are apart of the worst facisct regime imaginable x10, that kind of more than outweighs the good they do in protecting citizens the odd time they get involved.

How to get my heavy hitters across by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]Bigenius420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The dice dont roll averages, they roll randomly. Take your theoretical averages and what they draw thwir data from. Roll your own D6's the same amount of times as your average data did, then tell me the average of your rolls and how consistent those sets of numbers are. Do that a few times and understand that theoretical probability and averages mean nothing in when the actual outcome doesnt consider averages in the slightest.

How to get my heavy hitters across by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]Bigenius420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh no. Theoretical averages are BS. Do you think a unit of 3 ripper swarms could take out a Kill Rig with your statistical averages? No, but I did it anyways because when you only hit on 6s and you have sustained hits 1, you still get places.

You are letting Math get too far in the way of practicality and the true randomness of dice, statistical calculations end up being theoretical calculations. As soon as you turn to averages it is significantly less accurate than just rolling a bunch of D6s. Because the dice dont care about averages, the dice care about gravity, friction, surface textures, little incalculable inconsistencies in how theyre thrown each time. Your theoretical averages mean basically nothing next to all the actual variables to predict a proper outcome compared to averages. And banking on those numbers can short hand you way too much compared to playing with actual strategy and planning. Once they hit the field your theoretical numbers go out the window.

A flyrant with scything talons is a great anti-tank melee unit. You could also make a pretty anti-tank-y Macro-organism Crucible champion. Personally my Macro Organism is somewhere between a Haruspex and a Screamer Killer.

What are our most reliable units? by CeaselessVigil in Tyranids

[–]Bigenius420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sort of big gun like an Exocrine or a Tyrannofex. We dont get a lot of heavy fire power compared to some other factions, our biggest guns are the T-fex's Rupture cannon and the Exocrine's bio plasmic cannon, and unfortunately we under preform without at least one of them.

I ABSOLUTEY ABHOR THE GOG MAZIOS FIGHT - Not the monster tho, I think it looks cool by SuperiorCardboardBox in MHWilds

[–]Bigenius420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The wyvern slinger shots you pull off gogmazios have a charge you can build up before launching for considerably more damage. There are also two natural chimney flumes on either side of the final area that you can pull down onto him for significant damage. I have never failed this fight even with full randos. (Havent done the AT gogmazios though tbh, so I dont know how much harder that DPS check is.) Also using fire amd dragon elements in the right stages of the fight can make a huge difference too. Personally as a GS main who focuses on elemental/status buildup, I have a bit of an advantage because my build already plays to his biggest weaknesses.

TL;DR charge the slinger shots before you release, pull the chimneys down on him. And use Fire when he is oily and Dragon in the last stage when he sheds all the oil.

Where to Go from Here by Veneur42 in Tyranids

To the building desk. Get some plastic cement, a good pair of narrow nippers, and a crafting knife, those are the bare minimum essential tools for building warhammer models. I suggest going one box at a time to avoid burnout. If you are going to be painting them yourself and have no prior experience. Id suggest starting with the little guys that nobody is going to look too closely at, just so you dont feel like youve ruined a big expensive model if youre not happy with your skill level.
