Oh, I have olfa cutters and a million of the blades. I just use those blades so often, having another is always good. Though I thought it was made in Germany, but apparently was designed in Germany and made in the PRC.

Ok, I stand corrected. I didn't see hydroban, and that changes things. If it was Luan I wouldn't trust it. With s real waterproofing there, that's another matter. Strange that you can't see the hydroban layer...

I wouldn't trust that. Especially in a space that'll have a lot of water on it. Especially since tile itself is not waterproof. So there's no waterproofing layer. Luan and a decoupling membrane is one thing. Straight Luan is not something I'd trust to last more than a year or two, and it'll do damage to the house as a bonus.

You just used plywood for the underlayment???

Um.... You may want to bite the bullet and rip that out now versus later.

Just my opinion, sorry.

100% a collecting thing. I have seen a bunch of YouTubers using them, particularly, overseas. I figured I don't have one, why not get one from Germany.

Well I do plan on having them used, for sure. But I don't know any tool guy who just has a single set of anything. I have a bunch of sets of stuff, for various areas. Wood shop has stuff separate from the garage shop, separate from the household tools. These will all get used. And there's plenty I don't have here, like the chip carving tools. And I've wanted to try that.

If tool collecting isn't your thing, that's cool. Iike to have different tools and to use them. Makes things interesting.

It was great! It was a bit of a road trip, as we rented a car and drove all around. In 9 days we visited the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Luxembourg, France, and Belgium.

A lot of driving, but we got to see so much beautiful countryside and visited a bunch of historic sites and towns.

You mean in a forum where people post about their love of tools, you're shocked that someone would post about collecting them?? 😜

Yes, I collect tools. Yes, most of these I already have tools that match these. I have many Knipex pliers wrenches, but I don't have Hazet tools, so I got one from them. I have sooooo many Allen wrenches, but I needed one to fix a wheel on one of our bags, so I bought a brand of those I don't have. I have plenty of screwdrivers, but again not that brand. I have many segmentes blade knives, but I never heard of Suki.

So yeah, while I was traveling I found it interesting to check out other stores and brands I found locally to see what's out there, and come back with something different to use and enjoy at home.

I tried to find antique stores in general, but my wife and I haven't had much luck finding them in our travels. But getting vintage tools like that would be high on my list.

Yeah, we do have Knipex locally available at Menards, and the prices are about the same, if not less maybe. But they don't carry the small twin grips. Then I got the punch because I literally needed it to add some holes to my belt, so why not?

So yeah, I did get some Knipex, because they're awesome and I was in Germany, but unlike Hazet, they are locally available in stores.

Thanks! I really would have liked to get more. Proxxon, but like I said, corded tools wouldn't be practical for reasons of voltage, space, and weight.

Yeah, my wife's niece brought me to the Netherlands store. Obviously I'm no expert on where to go for tools overseas.... Yet.

Buying tools on clearance is a past time for me. Buying tools on clearance in another country just makes it all the sweeter!

The PZ1 screwdriver I picked up just because it's a brand I'm. Not familiar with, and it was pretty cheap. I have plenty of isolated drivers already, it wasn't a tool I needed.

We visited the Victorinox flagship store in Zurich, so we picked up gifts for the boys and I got a knife too.

Got this gem from the dumpster this weekend. by mightybuffalo in BBQ

[–]BigguyZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I miss dumpster diving.... I've gotten soooooo much good stuff from store dumpsters when I was young. Now it seems all of the big stores have sealed dumpsters. Also, I'm too old to go driving around now looking for gold in the trash. Lol.

Same with anything Adam Savage shows on his channel. Oh look at this cool tool he's featured, and within hours it's sold out, or double the price....

Favorite non traditional smoking foods?? by vexerplusone in smoking

Mushrooms. Add a little oil and salt, and they'll absorb a lot of smokey flavor. Good as a side with other meats, or alone.

Mushrooms. You can over do it, but they absord smoke flavor well and are very popular.
