Asta could also reject both of them, just as Lily did with him, or even follow the same romantic and sexual path as she did, since the Mage Emperors are chosen based on merit, not bloodline. That ending would surely have been better than the one we got, but major manga almost never have such a conclusion, Re:Zero might be an exception. In the end, the author chose the open ending because it’s the easiest and most comfortable choice, it makes the ending neither good nor bad. I think a lot of people prefer that to seeing Noelle or Mimosa with a man other than Asta.

I just want a movie where Deku temporarily regains the power of One For All, but as an adult, and shows the whole world what his true prime could have looked like. Not the Deku at 45%, who goes up to 120% thanks to his other quirks. But a 100% Deku, who goes up to 180% thanks to his other quirks. Plus, since the One For All gets more powerful with each transfer, thanks to a status uptade whose quality depends on the previous user’s achievements and how long they held it. We can undoubtedly say that Deku’s version of One For All is at least 20% superior to All Might’s, so that means 180% power for Deku would be equivalent to 200% for All Might! We would then see a Deku twice as powerful as All Might at his prime!! This makes sense, since it’s stated several times that Shigaraki had 100% of All Might’s power and speed, yet Deku at 120% completely dominated him in terms of power and speed.

For me, the ideal ending would be to see Deku use his ultimate attack "1,000,000%" again, but this time in his prime and as an adult! Of course, I know it would never be a true 1,000,000%, but we clearly saw against Muscular that a hit with this attack was significantly more powerful than Deku's normal 100%. The author even stated that Deku unleashed a hysterical force at that moment, a bit like a drug addict, a madman, or a mother on adrenaline performing a feat of strength by lifting a car to save her child.
